I did try one session of boxing, punching bag not sparring, and it was intense and interesting to see how the lactic acid kicks in your forearms after a while of punching. But like u said it builds your reflex and proper technique to handle business!

I love how practical, no-nonsense boxing is. I've done years of karate, wing chun and krav maga and I thought I was doing ok. (Krav maga isn't too bad, but it has some shortcomings IMO)

Then I started boxing, and after about 3-4 months of intense training, one-on-one sessions with the coach and sparring, all the previous years seemed like a joke. There was absolutely no comparison. A fight between me the boxer after 3 months versus me the practitioner of other fighting styles would have been decided by the boxer. Easily.

Me the boxer versus other boxers... different story... Not ashamed to admit I got my ass kicked a few times.

I was never some great fighter, just an average Joe, but I stuck with it and I got better. I've heard many times athletes saying they had peers far more talented than them when they started, but the talented ones didn't stick around and their talent was wasted.

Then you have guys like Mayweather, Manny, Lomachenko, Tyson, etc who have both talent and grit. Those guys make the sport exciting.

I've watched several videos on krav maga its good technique overall to have in which ur actions become part of your instinct. I can see your point of view were boxing in our general day lives can. E a good effective technique to defend yourself.

I dislike Mayweather to me being an 8 division champ trumps a 50-0 record. Not saying he aint a good fighter but when u play chicken in the ring and try to win by score thats just :jerkoff:

Yeah, great defensive skills are interesting to watch, but it gets old. A rematch would be really cool. Those guys are addicted to fighting hehe

Looking into some weighted gloves, would like to use them for training as well. Anyone have recommendations?

I use small weights, 2-4 lbs for some drills and shadow boxing, and only for a relatively short time during my workout. None of the fighters I know use them, but that doesn't mean they are bad. I just don't have any first or second hand experience with them.

Trying to increase hand speed, figured I would use weighted gloves.

Just start with a 2 lbs weight in each hand. If you do some shadow boxing for 2-3 3 minute rounds, your hands will feel like flying afterwards.

I pick Joshua, but it's far from a foregone conclusion. Ruiz definitely has the skills to win again.

From the stories going around, Joshua came into fight 1 with some issue. Apparently he was KO'ed in training camp, and then he had a panic attack in the locker before the fight. If any of that is true, which is plausible, I can see why he lost the fight.

He was dominating the fight, and after the knock down his heart wasn't in it anymore. It was like he suddenly didn't want to be there anymore. A knock down sucks, but it threw him off entirely. That's very strange for somebody at his level.

Again, IF the rumors are true and he was KO'ed in training, that's a huge mental handicap to overcome, let alone the fact that the brain hasn't fully recovered yet. He shouldn't even have been in the ring.

So I give Joshua the advantage based on rumors. If the rumors are false and he was 100% fit when he stepped into the ring, then it's 50-50.

100% agree. Ruiz is a fighter and he has speed, knocking power, and the hunger for it. I would say 50-50 as well. I did vote AJ, because I believe he has the hunger as well. It will be an intense fight to watch:annoyed:

I do also wonder (long shot) if it was kinda pre-planned. I mean the fight destination and rematch hype of how it went down, big money at play here:anonymous:

When it comes to pre-fight discussions/arrangements/drama, it's hard to tell what's real and what's hype. Personally, I don't follow any of that, or very, very little.

A good example would be Khabib vs. Fergusson in the UFC. I really want to see that fight, but I'm not following anything related to it. I have a feeling it's on, then it's off, on again, and so on...

Basically, I start following closely once a date is set. Before that, I couldn't care less.

True, I havent seen any promo for their fight either, I think Tony is going to bring to fight to khabib, he is not your normal fighter or heavy puncher, very technical combo and fast
