Yeah, we had some totally epic stuff here not long ago, usually involving spelling/ punctuation and deciphering what someone was saying.

I didn't realize how BAD my old, worn suspension was, until I drove her home yesterday. The Toyota master tech that did my frame replace / suspension re-build is a member hereabouts somewheres. He recently found and purchased a 2004 DCSD TRD out east, promptly failed the frame, and replaced it under warranty. He's modded his own Tacoma's for a while now. When I was still hemming and hawwing about what I wanted, he took me for a brief spin in a 2001 or 2002 Xtra cab that I think had Bilstein 5100s up front (a Toytec kit, so I think the springs were Eibach -- 600lb/in?), AllPro Expos in back with Bilstein 5160 9" shocks in back. It drove taut, very firm. But we only went for a quick spin around the block, so my impression was fleeting.

After driving my full OME home (Nitro 90004 / 882's up front; Nitro 60009 (?) -- the HD ones / Dakars + D43XL in back), I'm in love. Nope, haven't driven Foxes. Nor gotten a ride in Kings. But the ride is night and day better than stock. It is a taut / firm feel, yet soft, if that makes any sense. What bumps I've hit or manhole's I've sought out... I feel the bump, but it is instantly dampened and no rebound that I can tell. So it's like a firm softness, or a soft firmness. She rides like a truck. I'm not "floating" over bumps like I've heard some King owners swoon about... but that is fine. I didn't spend that kind of $$. I feel very connected to the road, and no body lean that I can tell. So... after only one day, I am *very* impressed with the ride of this OME suspension.

At a job site last night in Parker, I went tearing across the pasture on my own. 15-20mph no problem. 25mph no problem. I chickened out and didn't push it to 30mph because it was getting dark, I was by myself, and I didn't want to launch off some "hidden" gully which were about. But there were other big mounds of dirt thrown up by a road grader or earthmover and/or drainage swales that I crossed with ease, that probably would have been very hard to cross with my former, saggy, worn, stock suspension.

After $2k in suspension parts, $2k in needed / due / overdue maintenance items, and $17.4K by Toyota Corporate... I essentially have a new, 2004 Tacoma DCSB with 270,000 miles.

The tech who did the timing belt et al, rear main seal, and timing cover gasket was very surprised, yet very pleased at how clean the motor appeared. No gunk or sludge. Just a little bit of varnish here or there he said, which is to be expected he said. But he thought the motor looked GREAT on the inside. So I'll keep doing Mobil 1 every 5K with a Toyota OEM filter. So far so good...

Yeah, the tires might be a tad small (they are stock 16" size -- 30.5" dia, but slightly narrower). I had bought them in April... before it failed frame inspection. Oh well. They are the Falkens. So far I like them. And will probably keep them.

So I've already placed my deposit for some Yamadirtsliders...

Kind of like the look of some of those sliders tucked in tight to the body... they might even have a 30° up angle. BUT... she's HIGHER than I had anticipated, and is harder for me, with my short legs, to get into. Let alone my wife & children... SO... I probably need a step. And the nerf bars don't even make that good of a step. SO... the way @JasonLee got his sliders done by Yama&RedBaron is probably the best way to go. Maybe an inch narrower on each side? But that takes away from the step-ability of the slider. And when the day arrives for 32" or 33" tires... she'll be that much taller still... so...

this and the fact that nearly 25% have no insurance and 30% are under-insured. We all pay for the loafers. Unfortunately our Legislators won't fix the issue (which can be fixed) because it will raise State costs to administer and their voting base will take a hit (considering who they represent and what part of the State they are from = Front Range and Metro). Bend over and take it again like a good tax paying citizen.
