OK ..... this could not have been simpler.

This unit is out of the box complete. OEM audio plus was fully installed with the Entune (non JBL head unit. Simply unplug the Entune unit and plug in the Dasaita Android 9 unit and boom. DONE.

I added a wireless apple carplay dongle (works both wireless and wired). I also added a oem gps to sma connector in order to maintain the factory GPS antenna.

Factory GPS, OEM Audio Plus, Factory USB all retained. The head unit retains the factory steering wheel controls. No need to drill and reuse the OEM brackets. Buy a Scosche dash kit and use the brackets from the kit to mount the unit.

what’s the advantage of this brand, vs a good brand of equal price - alpine, sony, etc?

The head unit, complete with oem interface unit was 399. The Wireless carplay was 79. GPS adapter and mount kit were 14 each. Basically, half the price of Alpine/kenwood/Pioneer with a maestro oem interface module.

Also something to think about, when using the android systems you get a full 9 inch screen. With other aftermarket (sony, alpine, kenwood) you get a small screen thats limited to usually around 6-7 inches.

There are a few brands that work, the top few posts in this forum are all china brand android systems designed for corollas or sienna vans that we have adopted to tacomas.

Is the mic located on the front of the radio? How do people hear you? any complains? Only thing holding me back is that.

There is a mic on the front, but it comes with a separate mic. I put mine just to the left of the push start, and it seems to work well. When I get ambitious, I am going to relocate it to the overhead panel where the factory mic sits.

Do you still have HD radio signal with this head unit? I like a couple of the local HD stations

Currently no android offers HD radio, but you can get many of the HD radio stations with iheartradio app

Will this just drop right in and connect to oem harnesses on a 17 SR5 with the base entune radio? New Tacoma owner here. My dash surround by the radio appears smaller than yours as your new HU sits very close to the inferno colored piece on the dash. Will this unit work for me?? I love the 9” size and don’t want anything smaller if I go aftermarket
Here’s what my current one one looks like

    Thanks for replies.
Also is this eBay unit the same one but cheaper?

Hi, I guess harness should work without any modifications. The Dasaita, IYING or similar unit should fit both are 9 inches. The most challenging part will be the trim around the radio. You have two options, buy a new trim or fire up you dremel.

    Good luck.

UPDATE 8.11.19: 5nahalf found me the correct dash panel on ebay for $80 so I scooped that up. Also I lowballed the ebay seller(Official Dasaita Store) and they came down to $345 on the HU if anyone else is interested in this unit.

Alright I ordered this unit, can anyone make suggestions on trimming the center panel to the appropriate size for this unit. To order the correct size is 220.00, ridiculousness. I was thinking I first need to make a template of the unit face and go slightly larger. Not sure what tools to use on this, I do have a dremel and some cutting wheels for it and then fine sand the edges by hand with a block.

delonix can you comment on the opening on your center panel is it pretty much centered left/right & up/down on that panel? Also is it easy to make mounting bracket adjustments to get the correct placement of the HU through the opening?

    Thanks guys!

When will you receive the unit? The estimate every time I check is like a month and a half from now
