I’ve already done the fronts so those have never been an issue. My rear axle is super flexy though and the rear brake line is what stops it from reaching full droop

Took a quick trip to Valley of the Moon last night, truck kicked ass and I was in 4LO probably 80% of the time. Definitely need to get my own air compressor soon, and definitely need to do sliders before I try anything more hardcore

Unfortunately I don’t have any good photos on the trail because my phone is ass at nighttime shots

I’ve done like 4 offroad trips with my 4wd conversion finished and I’ve already scraped up my crossmember and tcase skid

Good news is they’re doing their job though, so I’m happy  definitely wanna do some full skidplates sometime soon, though. After sliders, I reckon.

Anyways if you couldn’t guess, I took the truck out today. My brother and I took a trip to Arizona to beat the heat and of course I couldn’t resist hitting up Broken Arrow!

You took a trip to az? Or moved back for the semester?

And skids need to get used. I just ran the rubicon in Tahoe a few weeks ago and dented/ bent every skid I have lol. And they are reinforced 3/16”. Hell even dented my fully fabbed lca. But it was worth it. Looking forward to you coming back and doing some wheeling.

Edit: sliders for reference. Used to be straight and rear doors don’t open anymore. Time to chop off and rebuild with much thicker material.

I just came back for the week, but I’ll be here for good on the 19th, a week before classes start. But yea definitely need to invest in some armor soon. Hoping to make some sliders next summer

Cool deal. Well we will have to wheel together once you’re back so long as I’m not working on something with my truck. Still need to do my engine cage after I finish repairs from the rubicon.

No, but DOM of the same specs would have done the same thing. DOM is a waste on something like this. My roll cage on the other hand is DOM. Problem was 0.120” wall and not enough supports. But heck for the first thing I ever fabricated like 6yrs ago they lasted longer than they probably should have. New set will be 0.25” wall all around and extra beefy

Sometimes you just come down THAT hard lmao

Tell ya what though, I’d much rather break a set of sliders than punch into my doors and rocker panels

Exactly. This was from getting stuck between 2 rocks and a hard place (tree). Was debating on redoing them anyways, nature just gave me the go ahead lol

Can't thank you enough, man! And I'm glad I didn't take my truck to Cinder Hills, I would've been left in the dust or I would've slowed you down to a crawl lol

Really got to test out the new front end upgrades and it's a far cry from my old Ocotillo Wells trips from a few years ago. Absolutely love it!

Also I've nailed my camping setup for the Tacoma. Picked up an air mattress that fits perfectly in the bed, and it made sleeping in the back super comfy. Every time I go camping in the truck I get better and better. Next step for my camping setup would be to figure out a way to insulate the rear glass and tailgate, because my feet still get way too chilly even in a sleeping bag.

Need to look into a sleeping platform with pullout drawers. I helped a buddy way long ago with one and it came out sweet. Dual battery, power inverter, lots of storage, and a big flat platform to arrange for sleeping. We can talk

Yea that was an idea I’ve had for later on down the road. My only problem is that I don’t have a tall camper, so I’d really be losing a lot of space to move around in when I’m laying down. We’ll see though, if I ever decide to add more longevity to my trips I’ll probably want the extra space

Did some small stuff today. Replaced my hub gaskets since they’ve been pretty shot. Glad I did because the passenger side o-ring snapped just pulling it off the hub switch.

Also swapped out my speed sensor gear, and I’m glad I did because it was not in very good shape. I knew the old one was giving me the wrong speed reading but damn it was gnarly
