Rotella T6 was generally the best testing of the diesel formula oils that I tested. But they all really did test well. Almost all oil nowadays is really good stuff. But if I can use the best oil for an extra fiver??? Fine, sell it to me. Why not. Lol

1st oil change Ive ever done. Torqued that sucker (stp from autozone) on there good with a strap wrench. Next oil change comes along and it wouldnt budge. Completely deformed the can in the process of trying. Ended up dumping the new oil in and taking it to the dealer for an oil change. Spent $45 on that 2nd oil change. I cringed as I watched my new castrol oil come spilling out after he pulled the plug.

I can usually get it off by hand fairly easily, once or twice it's taken a few attempts. I can get a pretty good grip on it through the wheel well with the wheel turned out.

I have used one of those rubber towel things that you use in the kitchen to open jars with stuck lids, that makes it easier if it's really stuck on there

It may have been waste from a nuclear plant on its way to Nevada or wherever they safely store it?

That's not too bad, I was afraid you were going to say you cracked the oil filter housing or something by giving it too much muscle

I always have to go into the car to pull the hood latch. If the hood latch is bad I just thwack the plastic fenders with a sledge.

I use giant channel locks to take filters loose when a filter tool doesn't work.

I'm currently running T6 + Archoil to mitigate the stiction and it runs pretty damn well. People are claiming with Amsoil or Schaefer s I wouldn't need to add archoil though.

The one thing about T6 is the injectors system shears it down from 5W40 to 30 pretty quickly according to other's used oil analysis

Really? Interesting. I don't remember any of T6 testing at that low of viscosity, or even out of spec, but by nature of synthetic oil it's common to test on the low end of that 'w40' specs. Also that shearing you're mentioning might be specific to that engine and I'm sure I tested samples from that engine but I couldn't tell you any specifics.

according to blackstone, yeah. "We have been finding that the 6.0L Power Stroke is notorious for shearing down the oil's viscosity. Most of the samples we see from these engines have a lower viscosity, regardless of the brand of oil. We don't think your viscosity is a problem at all, as it is reading in a 30W range"

These have saved my bacon a few times on oil changes I've done for customers and the filter wasn't budging. One of few HF tools that can last a bit Got em before Amazon was a thing so good chance Amazon will have similar or cheaper

No just the ultra clean conventional. Still a pretty expensive oil in terms of store bought conventionals.

Interesting, yeah I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the engine details of the oil I analyzed and I kinda did it on side so just a few hours a week. Most of the samples were from fleets of trucks and mostly heavy equipment and so didn't get tons of samples or data from that 6.0(wouldnt remember if we did though lol) but that's pretty damn harsh of shearing on the oil man.... One thing I love about these Yotas is how easy they are on the oil which shows to have direct correlation with durability and longevity. But as you know the trade off for that durability comes at the price of ponies. These things aren't the spunkiest, but they aren't the biggest dog either

Oil filter sockets were the greatest investment ever, I could get anything off no matter what the torque.

I found that those loose their grip over time. Ive been using the 3 jaw claw type tool lately. Works really good, especially on cars with tiny filters. Sometimes the strap wrenches just dont fit where you need them to.
