MOD: A-Pillar RAM mount GPS/Phone holder

Hello everybody. Does anyone happen to know the actual name of the "oh shut handle" or able to get part numbers for it or the bolt covers?

So I did this mod a while ago and I drilled a hole and shaved it down so it was snug and looked like it was stock because I'm super anal like that. But I am not fond of the location because between my ditch lights and gps i can't see that much in that corner as if like to. I would like to move it up to the top bolt and do the same thing but I can't find a spare bolt cover to buy. So if anyone can get one from a junk yard or help me out I would really appreciate it. I will pay anyone for there troubles obviously. There are no tacos in my local junk yard.

Right on, still use mine every time I get into the Tacoma. Here’s a heads up to those of you that interact with your phones directly while in the mount other than a CarPlay or google car type head unit. States are adding teeth to distracted driver laws so if they see the screen illuminated while driving odds are you might get dinged. If you’ve considered upgrading your head unit to one that has these features you’ll be happy to know that once the phone makes the handshake with the stereo the phone screen turns off and all interactions go through the new screen in your dash.

 

I’m still looking for the TOP bolt cover in gray for the grab bar. If anyone can get me one from a salvage yard or a totaled truck. I will pay them for there troubles. The news Tacoma I can get my hands on is a 98’.

I did and I really appreciate it. I could not get it to fit into the top one though.

 

I was able to source these for my ‘14 Tacoma a few years back from the dealership. Sorry, I don’t have the part #’s.

 

You think I can buy just that piece from the dealership then? I didn't know if I would have to buy the whole handle it something.

 

Yes I was able to. The guy at the parts desk was very patient and let me take a couple out to my truck so I can match the correct one.

 

Nice I'll have to check that out. I figured they would think I was nuts.

 

Ask them to pull up the diagram of the pillars and those parts are separate and available, at least they were for my ‘14.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered 2 or them for like a $1.12 each. I ordered 2 and a oil filter so I didn't look too weird.
