I live about 3 miles as the crow flies from lantern fly ground zero, the stone company that imported some rocks containing the critters. We have friends who live just on the other side of the valley from there, a half mile roughly. The lantern flies were BAD at their house 3 years ago. They were BAD at our house 2 years ago. They were BAD last year where my dad lives, which is further away still.

Last year and this year I have seen zero around here.

It seems as though they are spreading in an expanding ring around the place where they started.

It seems like the lanternfly is less species specific compared to the ash borer, so it's not hitting things quite as obviously.

Next year you'll be swarmed. Nothing you can do about it except ride it out.

    Really... ?

    Great...

They love vines, I know a lot of the vineyards have been hit hard, and they were crazy over my one tree stand last season, that tree is covered in some good vines too.

. Take a look at any trees you have, and get rid of the egg masses.

Yes really. A Japanese beetle issue has been brought up, i need to contact people about that. And we started talking about the SLF as well. Risk of spreading both to various places.

Depending on what kind of trap you set up, it actually attracts the ones in your neighborhood to your yard. We buy stuff(liquid) that you pour directly at the base at the plant/tree, the beetles take a nibble and die. Bushes/trees are a lot better then when we did traps. Hollenbach/Ace hardware(our local one) has a section actually labeled as “lantern fly protection/repellent”

About what time. I have to get it from @HomerTaco. I normally get home around 6-615.

Nice I would if I had it at my house.

    Not sure what time yet.

Hopefully I’ll be leaving Camden around by six. I’ll have a better idea around lunch time tomorrow.
