Sounds like you have a case for a three hundy and fifty five million dollar lawsuit.

I wouldn't be happy, but i'm not so broke or credit challenged that i'm worried about one hard pull on my credit report

Unless your credit is borderline bad and this small ding to it pushes you over the line it really isn't a big deal. Other than just the principle of it all. The guy with a 750 score is getting the same benefits as the guy with 850. And there aren't any downsides until you drop below 700. Really closer to 650.

I struggle with this it cuts both ways when I got my new truck this time after letting them pull mine, the salesman and cm come back like a hillbilly, buck tooth and a hardon. Telling me I can get 4.1 and it would make there #'s look better. What do I think? Great wrote the check got the keys and walked out with out the loan. They thought 4.1 was a deal. I had 2.1 at a cu .

It would bother me as well, you're potentially going to make a 30k plus purchase and they're already doing exactly what you didnt want to happen. I think this would be considered deceptive sales practices. You should be able to file a complaint with the FTC. With what happened with wells fargo, I know a lot of banks are cracking down on sales practices and making sure that everything is done by the book. Deceptive sales practices is an absolute UDAAP violation. Dont know the ins and outside of it but take a look. I think most you can do outs of disputing this credit pull with the credit bearueas, is tell them that you will file a complaint with anyone you can, Bbb, ftc, corporate, etc.

    https://www.trupointpartners.com/blog/define-udaap-unfair-deceptive-abusive-acts-practices

    https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/submit-consumer-complaint-ftc

Also the biggest "fuck you" to them is to not buy from them.

So the dealer illegally pulls your credit, and you want them to make it better by taking more of your money?

Most people that work on the sales side of the car business are retarded. It was probably a mistake. You could go in and beat them all up, but in the end is there any glory in beating up on a retard? Either use this to your advantage if you really want new truck or just move on living in the glory that your life never deteriorated to a place where you worked in a place that is looked down on by McDonalds workers.

Good for you to let people take advantage of you and to brag about your money and high credit score. I live on military disability myself and have had to work extremely hard to get my score where it's at.

Every hard pull is a couple points off. And they stay on you for 2 years. In the last couple months i had constructions loans pulled, and bought my wife a 2019 camry xse. Each pull another couple points. 10 pulls 20 points. The difference between a 720 and a 718 equates to a higher finance rate. 2 points matter to me when i didn't contact them wanting a new vehicle and have plans in the near future of needing another loan.

Also let him know you’ll be contacting Toyota corporate to let them know they’re slimy. Dealerships definitely do not like complaints going to corporate.

First off, find out which Bureau they obtained your history from. Ask them to contact that bureau to have the inquiry removed. If they don’t then you contact the bureau and ask what your options are.
Peoples credit gets pulled in error by legitimate companies. There are way to fix it. But as mentioned. If your buying anyways don’t fight it, use it to get a better deal.

I had the similar happen. I was in toyota to order some wheels and tires and figured since they've been emailing me and calling about trading up I'll take a look. All the normal nonsense about same payment, newer year blah blah blah. So he tells me he can run a soft pull just to get a ball park and I told him only if it doesn't ding my credit. He swore up and down that it wouldn't and they changed the process. So after I decide I do not want to upgrade and left I got an alert my credit was dinged (2pts). I was so pissed off, I called back to complain and they did nothing for me and acted like it was no big deal. Learned a lesson that day, well a few lol. Those mofos are lying ass salesman only worried about themselves, never met one that actually cared about the customer. I wonder if any actually do?

Like I mentioned earlier... Keep your credit on lockdown and you'll never have to worry about this happening again. I believe what you said and what the dealership did was a shitty tactic. But as far as recourse goes... you don't have any. It's your word against theirs. That said... I would also turn them into the BBB because when you do that they have a large amount of paperwork to fill out. They dinged you... ding them back. That's about the only thing you can do at this point. That... and never use that dealership again.

One thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post. You can use a credit monitoring service if you like but in reality, it's ultimately up to you to stay on top of your credit. You said you used a credit monitoring service and they emailed you telling you they did a hard pull on your credit. So the credit monitoring service didn't help you at all other than notifying you what had already taken place. The damage was done by then. So, in reality, it is completely up to you to stay on top of it. I'm extremely diligent about my credit which is why I keep it on lockdown so this type of thing can not happen to me. Like I mentioned before, my suggestion is call one of the three bureaus and lock your credit. When you call one the other two bureaus will be notified and do the same. I'd be pissed also but what's done is done. If you don't have any hard pulls in the near future it will work itself out.

I'll put it this way... when I bought my last car last year I went to my insurance company to get new cards printed up for it. I inquired if there was cheaper insurance than what I was paying that would still give me the coverage and quality of the insurance that I currently had. There was but it was only slightly cheaper. If I decided to go with it, they would have done another hard pull and I didn't want that. So I waited for almost a year to switch insurance providers. If you have good credit, the small ding that you took will work itself out and shouldn't affect you in the long run. But I agree. It still sucks.

    Better business bureau them.

The dealership I went to with a buddy, (we bought both of ours at the same time) opened up not one, BUT TWO lines of credit for he and his wife. Dealership acted like it wasn't a big deal. Still trying to fight that one, and this was back on December/ January time frame.

Hard pulls stay on your credit report for two years yes. But they only impact your credit score for twelve months. But there are so many factors that come into play with credit. Your debt to earning ratio, how much revolving debt you have, how many times you've applied for credit in the last 12 months, etc... So yes, what the dealership did to you was shitty. But in reality, there is nothing you can do about it in terms of your credit score ding. Lock it down completely is the only advice I can give you. That, and only take out credit when you actually want to buy a new car. Not when the dealership contacts you out of the blue. I get those requests constantly and I just throw them away. So ultimately it is completely up to you how you control your credit. Because I can promise you... no one else will do it for you.

What,s the name of the Dealer? Does anybody of your friends have a large dog that is friendly but can scare the hell out of the MGR to get a better deal? Take the dog with you. Sadly it happen too me to in the past contacted the BBB and the outcome was a joke till we Consumers stand up for our rights the Slimebugs wearing a fancy tie always win. All you can really do is Blast the Dealer on social Media but be careful how you do it . If you have time sit out in front of the Dealer with a big sign and warn others.

I get why you're pissed but I think there's better stuff in the world to be righteously angry about. In the end, what's it matter? You're not out anything except the time you're taking to be mad about this.

And FWIW saying something is "illegal" and being able to do anything about it are totally different. Their actions may be illegal but short of spending your money to sue them, you can't do shit.

As much as I like your enthusiasm, that is probably the least effective way of going about it. I'm assuming you're kidding about the dog (at least I hope you are). Telling your friends is fine but won't make much of a dent. Social Media is fine but will have about the same outcome. Sitting out in front of the dealership will just make you look like a kook. In fact if I saw someone standing on the corner with a sign I'd be more likely to go to that dealership just to spite them. So all of that is ineffective. People are going to go where they can find the best deal. And in reality, all dealerships are the same when it comes to the actual cost of the vehicle. There is a little bit of wiggle room but vehicles are going to sell for what they sell for.

I'll say it again. The only person that you can trust when it comes to transactions like this is yourself. They are there to make money and rightfully so. Yes there are shady dealerships out there but there are also good ones. We've been using the same salesman for the last 10 years or so and I have nothing but praise for him and how he treats us. I have his number in my phone and anytime I need to talk to him I can just call him up. Once you find a dealer that you trust, it becomes service after the sale. That is the true measure of a dealership.
