Heads up! There is a problem with the 3rd Gen fuel injector pump (the one up front, not in your gas tank) and Toyota is aware of it.

It sounds like a squeaky belt or tensioner pulley, but don't be fooled. Have your dealer look and listen for it. They'll replace the pump under a service bulletin (I don't know the number), but you have to get this done before 60,000 miles.

Early on I heard the squeaking and thought it was a belt/pulley issue, but waited to get it looked at seriously until recently. If you have to pay for the work, the part is about $1200, and the labor is another $400.

Get your vehicle in and have this taken care of before it costs you a fortune!

I know it would. I don't have it. The dealer just looked it up and told me it was covered under a TSB. Sorry.

if you have a work invoice for it then it should be printed there what they did and the parts used, labor, and TSB notice number

I thought it was a belt/pulley thing, and it kept getting louder. So I took it in to see if they'd change the belt and pulley, and the service manager called me to tell me it wasn't the belt after all.

They'd put a stethoscope on the pulleys and they were running quiet, so they kept looking for the sound and found the injector pump.

If you are ever in the Salt Lake Area and need a straight-up Toyota Service Department, the guys at Karl Malone Toyota in Draper have always treated me well.

Thanks man.. I will talk to my service adviser to have his mechanic look into it... Mine doesn't make the chirping noise all the time, its kind of intermittent, and yes, at times it gets louder..
    Thanks again.
