Private party sales and cash transactions are, regrettably, probably the only way to avoid having a SSN pull. It is a shame.

This gave me a much needed lol.

My best friend's older brother was a service rep and he was moving a customer car and shit on himself while doing it lol. I just remember being 12 at my friend's house with him coming in with his shitty pants and dying laughing. We rip on him about to this day 20 years later. Never found out what happened to the car lol.

Shit, I'm in the 3rd gen section where everyone is a special snowflake who cries about everything.

If it's not authorized call the bureaus and tell them that. Hard inquiries by law have to be authorized.

Man this is going to sound harsh but hear me out. If you're really only living on disability and sweating a 2 point drop in your credit score...you probably shouldn't be in the market for a construction loan

I'm lucky to have a great wife, my sugar momma, that makes pretty good money as well...

But she ain't paying for my truck LOL

They are working a pretty good deal for me to make things right. Giving me 2.9% interest and i still owed 29K on the 2017 with over 40K miles, they are paying that off and the 2019 4x4 will be 32K out the door with gap insurance.

I think I'll take it, but they first need to get another 4x4 on the lot for me. They said Monday at the latest.

Freeze your credit with the three credit companies! That way “no one”....no company can pull a credit report. You can unfreeze your credit if and when you need credit.

unfortunately not true. I have paid cash for my last 5 vehicles and all dealers have required a credit pull to make sure somehow, that you arent a drug dealer or something I guess. Thats what one guy told me.

Not bad, two year newer truck with 40k less miles for really only 3k more than what you already owe. I would probably take that offer.

    Yea i probably will.

They got in 2 4WD tacomas this evening but one was Red, too bright for me, and one magnetic grey, which is my favorite color, bit unfortunately is a long bed. And I'd much rather short bed.

Seeing how quick they can get either a magnetic grey or a silver sky 4WD tacoma DCSB now.

I’m missing something here. What is the problem with having them review your credit to give you the information you asked for?

I didn't ask for anything... They called me out the blue asking me to trade up... I told them they could give me a ballpark figure without pulling my credit. I told them i knew they couldn't give me exact numbers but i did not want them pulling my credit. I DID NOT EVEN GIVE THEM MY SS#...

They used my old application from 2017 and ran my credit anyways. That's the problem. And it's illegal. Even the general manager has called apologizing.

I mean looks like it really worked out in your favor those are some unbelievable #s all around. All in all I'd be happy they fucked up and you were able to leverage it

Seriously if $32k is actual OTD then that means they're pretty much selling you a brand new 2019 for what they're paying for your USED 2017 with 40k miles. You're moving from a 2 year old truck with 40k miles to a brand new one for only $3k total... thats fucking insane :headbang:

If I plan on financing the vehicle I NEVER let them pull my credit before a price is settled on. It's not too hard since we've been using the same salesman and dealership for the last 10 years. But I just tell them to figure off my credit score being over 800. I'll tell them if it's not like I said then they can renegotiate the deal. I always get all the pertinent information beforehand IE: Payoff of the vehicle I'm trading in, the value of the vehicle I'm trading in (which I already know beforehand), the selling price of the vehicle I wish to purchase (which I already know beforehand), find out how much holdback money there is, and settle on a price that I feel is fair for me and the dealership. Never ever go in blind. Never buy a vehicle on the spur of the moment if you don't need it. Do all your research before ever stepping into the dealership. My mother owned a Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep dealership for over 20 years so once you learn all the in's and out's you can make a much better decision that benefits you and the dealership.

Once they get you back in F&I do not buy anything that you haven't already settled on in the original deal. The back room is where the dealership makes their money (aside from preowned vehicles). I've found that with my credit score there is no bank or credit union that can compete with 0% interest. The longest I finance a vehicle is for 36 months and there is almost always a 0% interest option out there. If not and you plan on financing wait until there is.

And to whoever said that pulling a credit report and sending it to multiple banks doesn’t effect your credit score is incorrect. Each bank they send it too, if it gets turned down, will have a significant impact on your credit score.

i'd move the fuck on with my life. Thats what i'd do and not try and figure what the recourse is for a few points on a credit score.
