I love that Toyota continues selling the SR. I wouldn't want one; too bare. But still, I am glad that they are offered.

It don't have to be bare. Dress it up the way a man wants it. :)

Has anyone added apple carplay to their SR? Any issues with wiring?

Here's my 2018 DCSB SR. So far I've added the TRD wheels with 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks, Bilstein 5100's, OME 887 coils and a Wheelers 1.5" AAL. I also added OEM keyless entry, floormats and some lighting upgrades. This weekend i'm installing a sub, amp and upgraded door speakers and tweeters. I have a host of other mods in the works. Fogs, roof rack, tint, sliders and a tonneau.

Here's a link to a write up I did on installing Toyota keyless entry if any other SR owners would like to do it as well : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/installing-oem-keyless-entry.619447/#post-21084014

People seem to scoff at buying an SR but I think it's the most logical choice for someone like me and one of the smarter car buying choices I've made. I bought this 2018 SR DCSB V6 4x4 with 25K miles for $24k.....That's 7-10k less than I could find a similar mileage TRD for. Also, I mod all my vehicles. I knew I'd be swapping wheels and suspension in the first month of ownership regardless of which trim level I went with, which I did. I also knew I would upgrade the fogs and stereo from the factory installation. I also prefer the no chrome of the SR vs SR5 and I prefer the SR grill to the TRD or Limited. The only thing I remotely miss, that I probably wouldn't add, is the sliding back glass. I am also kinda jealous of the headlights on the TRD's.

I like the way you think. When I eventually get out of my 2nd Gen and into a 3rd Gen, I will most likely look for a lower trim level. I dont offroad a ton and like to mod my vehicles. Saving almost 10k is a great way to keep some "play" money for mods.

    Looks great!

I wish that the options & packages were more customize-able. I am super happy I could get a rear seat delete, but I would have liked to get a rear sliding window.

I would have really just liked a power sliding rear window, most everything else that’s “upgraded” from the SR in other models are all stuff I plan to change too. My must haves for a new truck we’re a good backup camera (which I think the Tacoma has), heated mirrors, and cruise control. Everything else is nice to have or something I’m gonna change.

Tires? Not going with stock size again, who cares.
Suspension? It wears out and I’m planning on a lift anyway.
    Infotainment? I’m changing it
Fog lights? I added aftermarket with factory wiring
    Wipers? Plug and play swap
Tint? I did all my windows anyway

I wouldn’t mind having crawl control and bed power from the Off Road, but that’s it.

I put a set of those tires on my Amazon wish list just in case I live long enough to wear these Hankook's out. So the P265/70/16 is a tad bigger tire than the P245/75 Toyota puts on our trucks from the factory?

This happened 2 months ago but forgot to post it here as I forgot about the SR thread... 2019 SR.. truck had a low oil pressure light/check engine light, towed to dealer, told nothing was wrong, oil level was perfect. I have had about 4-5 other “issues” i.e. stumbling trans, chattering leaf springs, including a rear diff being replaced at 969 miles but never towed until now! 18C6CA39-17DE-4A49-92E9-DC696FFC435F.jpg
