We need a thread for us PNW folks that like to harvest our own meat. Who's doing what this year? I start scouting for deer and maybe elk this weekend. Keeping an eye out for bear tomorrow too, my buddy has a tag and black bears are out of control right now

awesome thread. I'm an upland bird hunter and chase after pheasant, grouse and chukkar in the fall. I'm looking to get into elk hunting though. If anyone is willing to take me under their wing, I can return the favor during the bird season. I have my own rifle, etc.

Tried to play guide for a buddy last night and I did my part of finding him a bear, unfortunately we missed the opportunity just barely. And we almost got stranded in the woods so now i'm the owner of a new northstar battery...

I'm hoping this second gen is my good luck charm, last year it suceeded on its first deer hunt with me

Does WA still use the screwed up method of issuing hunting licenses where you have to select east/west side and archery/muzzleloader/rifle when you buy?

You have to select a side for elk, deer tags are statewide. You can apply for a multi-season tag and use every weapon type, or you can always use a "lesser" weapon during other seasons... like bowhunting during rifle season for example

So stupid. I hated that when I lived in Washington. Half the fun in hunting is going out after game with different methods and being limited to just one is pointless. An over the counter tag should be a tag usable anywhere in the state for that animal using whatever weapon is legal during that season.

I lucked out with a multi season deer, I'm strictly a bowhunter so that's super awesome for me. Plus a second deer tag for whidbey, and an antlerless OK in Olympic. My dumbass picked east side for elk and I'm sure I'll see them during my westside deer hunt

Saving points here. I will just be doing general deer and elk. I have 18 points saved for antelope, I might be able to draw West Beaty's Butte next year. But point creep may have me wait another year. It will be nice staying close to home for deer.

Went looking for bear today out by Cashmere on a "hot tip". Not a single sign of bear anywhere. Oh well

Scouted the Olympic Peninsula today, Little Quilcene trailhead. No go for hunting. Stay the fuck off NF-2909. According to the map it was a straight shot up to Sequim but that road was savage, and washed out. Fucker

If these guys keep coming around my yard in a month, the one on the left is gonna end up with an arrow in it.

Sadly they know when it’s hunting season and won’t come out. Deer are assholes
