A wise man once told me: Race trucks make race noises!

Then promptly put a coilover, shock mount, and resi through the hood when the welds gave way. #TooPinned

A different style of data point for how bad they are is I just did almost 2k miles in my truck, which is also caged, with my fiancé and she didn’t call off the wedding. The noise means everything is working how it should.

What setup do you use for nitrogen charge?

I personally don’t have a setup. Working on it though.

But the better quality the regulator, the more accurate your fills will be. Then it’s up to you to use a no loss chuck or not. Again, with one you will be more precise. But your average Joe, myself included, isn’t going to be able to tell the difference between a shock filled to 190 when they wanted 200.

If a place is willing to fill your C02 with nitrogen then the answer is yes....provided you have a hose and regulator

I sourced all my cheap stuff from Amazon: hose, regulator and chuck. The pressure drop is so minimal if you release the chuck right. I went to the local airgas company and bought (rented?) a small tank. When it's empty I'll get the next size up. I've done a couple dozen or more shocks and still have more than half a bottle.

Unfortunately this is not true. CGA (Compressed Gas Association) has setup very specific rules to keep dummies like us safe. Your CO2 cylinder will have CGA320 valve where as your Nitrogen cylinder will have CGA580. Valves are specified by gas type so that we do not blow ourselves up. there are lots of stories of people in the gas world blowing themselves up.

A C02 cylinder will require a specific regulator for a CGA 320 that is different than a Nitrogen valve that has a CGA580.

    CGA320

Furthermore a fill location (Airgas) will not fill Nitrogen in to a C02, or vice versa. Governing bodies (like the DOT) will fine them upwards of $10k for such an offense.

I should add: In most cases (I stress most) the cylinder itself between the two types of gas is the same. A cylinder is a cylinder and they are all made out of steel (or aluminum, or composite etc. whatever).... If you want nitrogen and you have a co2 cylinder it is as simple as changing the valve.... Unfortunately most Airgases or similar will most likely want you to swap tanks with them and charge you for it
