When I was a cop, I was serving a domestic violence petition on a guy and as I approached the front door he jerked it open and told his dog (pit bull) to "attack" me. It jumped up and tried to grab me by the stomach but it caught hold of my duty belt instead and tried to pull me over. I shot it in the head at point blank range with a Glock 21 (45 acp). The angle must have been off because the bullet did not penetrate, it lodged against his skull but knocked his ass out cold! Needless to say the guy went to jail and another officer adopted the dog, who is a complete angel. If you breed mean dogs to mean dogs.. you get mean puppies, you breed nice to nice.. you typically get nice puppies.

 

If you have too. Get an attorney and sue his ass off!! How about "emotional distress"?? At least push to have the ticket issued. That way there is a CLEAR record that this dog is aggressive, so if he ends up killing someone, there is a pattern to prove the owner is at fault. Stupid people like that are how some breeds get a bad reputation. I Fkn hate people!!

 

No matter what is being attacked....In that situation, I'm gonna be motivated to not just punch the dog, I'm goin for the rib breaking stomping kicking attack tackle break neck choke hold then beat the owner with whatever's left of their dead dog........or make use of the CHL and just shoot it dead. Depends on the mood I'm in.

Here where I live your pet is still considered a possession and you don't have the right to protect your tv by killing the criminal. The only time you can use deadly force is as you stated above self defense.

Its not a crime to have a vicious animal just more costly to the owner. You must meet certain requirments at your home ie: 6'+ fence, and signs. When you are 0ut and about you must have your animal on a short leash 1-3' and the animal must have a muzzel. That is how it is here.

To be dangerious the animal must be deemend so by a court. Dangerious and Vicious are 2 different things and have different laws for them both.

 

i'm assuming where you live self defense does include other people though correct? i thought a dog might count but i am not at all surprised to hear it doesn't. i know when i got my CWP though they talked us through the definitions of self defense. one of the conditions was if another persons life was at stake and acting in their defense is acceptable. (example: you see someone being attacked in an ally with a deadly weapon, you can shoot the attacker)

 

Yes sir protecting another person is also self defense. Sorry I left that out. Unfortunately our possessions don't. I was told that unless the criminal breaking into my home was threatening my/family's life, using deadly force could come back to bite me. There are tons of loop holes but the safe bet is to let them have whatever they want as long as it isn't your life.

One of those loop holes is to say "I felt my life was in danger!" then I shot him 3 taps center mass.

in SC it rarely comes back to bite people in the ass unless it was obviously not self defense. here, the main no no's are not to shoot someone in the back (obviously) and there's a certain radius that if they are in it and you feel threatened (multiple assailants or a weapon of some kind) you can shoot em dead. i dont remember hte exact radius but its bigger than i would have thought. and unlike you i will not apologize for getting off topic, that is why Bob made TW after all

Yep, press charges for the threats. I think your dog's injuries would be a civil matter, I would pursue that as well.

I hate arrogant dog owners.
