Are you going to make a lager like DB VL? I love that rich deep hops taste. But the bottled beer somehow lacks the body of non pasteurized beer.

Did you say, “deep rich hops taste” when referring to Vienna lager by DB? You must have one hell of a palate.

I found it easier to drop the bumper and install the stage 2 while it was off the truck.

Unfortunately no, otherwise I would rank the VL by DB pretty low. I will have to find the cask version. I do love a good cask ale...never had a cask lager.

Try it. I'm not a huge fan of it in a bottle. But on cask it is deeeeeelicious.

Damn. A cask lager...I’ll take your word for it. You and I need to meet up and have this mythical beer. :D

The VL in a bottle is not the same as from a tap. Somehow heating the cold brewed beer destroys the chewy characteristics of a well made lager. I think that is why the British came up with IPAs which are heated during processing to preserve them on long travels. Lagers do not travel well. I have just not done research to understand the science. I grew up drinking German lagers and I find IPAs without character.

IPAs without character? You and I must be drinking different IPAs then. IMO, IPAs tend to have the most character. The last time I had a "local" lager, it didn't taste much different to me than any of the multiple mainstream lagers offered by most breweries. I have had DB VL from the tap, and my opinion is the same. A cask lager...I'm intrigued. Don't get me wrong, I am not disparaging your tastes or preference in beer, and I agree that the bottling process probably takes something away. But to say that IPAs lack character...no sir. I cannot agree to that.
