OK. After tasting John J. Bowman for 3 nights in a row.
Comparing it to other Buffalo Trace products.
    • Eagle Rare
    • Buffalo Trace
    • Blanton's
    • EH Taylor SB
To me it edges out the other 3 to take 2nd place right after EH Taylor SB. Which it should considering the price and the proof except for maybe the Blanton's
It was hard choosing it or the EHT SB. So I had the wife do the pours and did a bling taste test. Actually had her do it twice.
The Colonel edged out John J. but it was close. I'd give The Colonel SB a 9 and John J. a 8.5.
I did compare the John J. Bowman to 2 other similar SB 100 proof products. Four Roses SB and Henry McKenna BIB.
I like both of those and they are always on my shelf. But Mr Bowman took the honers over both. Gonna be a keeper here.

You'd be welcome to it if I still had it. Traded it for a bottle of Highland Park. A little improvement but not much. I ended up giving that one to a buddy.

Everyone else in Texas has been snagging up Weller 12s and 107s the past couple of days, but I missed out. At least I finally snagged one of these!

Being here in AZ, we have such a poor selection. It’s rare, but we can get EH Taylor SB and Elmer T. Blanton’s a little more often. Never see Weller or Pappy. Our laws here suck.

Ha! I have two stores that I frequent often and I literally just beg the owners to hook me up when they get their allocation.

I heard a rumor that this might be the last time we see Elmer T Lee, my buddy told me to hold on to it (his polite way of saying stop drinking all your stuff). Anyone else hear that?

Not a bad taster. Smooth yet slight burn in the finish. Mild alcohol taste as well.
