    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
They do vent when hot though, designed to do it as a safety feature, so don't keep them near open flames. I use these too.

    Correct on the venting.

It's generally a good practice to always keep gas cans away from open flames anyway.

    :D

Note/Tip: If I wont be using mine for a while (say several weeks/months), I apply some fresh oil to the cork gaskets. My cans are over 10 yrs old and still function perfectly. Each came with a spare gasket and I've not needed to use them. Still have em.

I do not endorse anything on that site lol. I just thought it was funny how it was one of the first sites to pop up when looking for real jerry cans

Wavians are much thicker steel than the Chinese garbage. And the welds are recessed so they don’t get damaged and the cans will sit flat.

    1) buy Wavian cans
    2) grumble about how much money they cost you.
    3) have great gas cans for the rest of your life.

$100 here... never thought I'd pay that for a gas can but oh well! Wavian and freedom spout FTW!

Old post, but to answer your question. Who knows?? I ran eBay $20 cans, for a couple years and never had an issue. Had gas in them 100% of the time. They rode on my swingout, thru the mountains of Colorado and trails of Utah without ever leaking. They faded and had surface rust, but never leaked.

There's a guy on T4R.org that sells them, real fast turnaround. Scepters in used or new condition.

I've lived off-grid for 30 years, where we transport fuel where necessary over rough roads. And I hate hauling and pouring of siphoning fuel. Jerrys are great for securing in the vehicle, but over time they rust and leak and are inconvenient and cantankerous, and I'm happy not to use them any more. There are many more modern, functional options.
