I was in Louisiana for work earlier this week and had to drive on the causeway across lake Ponchartrain, once late at night and once early morning. For those who don't know, it's a bridge nearly 24 miles long over the lake and you lose sight of the shore in all directions. At night it was a bit strange to be out on a lake and barely see any lights from the shore, but the morning crossing was surreal.

There was almost no wind so the water was calm and reflective. I noticed the clouds formed a ring around the lake on the shoreline (which you couldn't see), but weren't over the water. The effect was you couldn't tell where the water ended and the sky began. Then I saw this large boat and it looked like it was flying, almost like a blimp. I tried to get a picture with my phone but it doesn't look the same as seeing it. In the pic you can see a delineation between lake and sky, but in person you couldn't. It was a trip.

 

I believe this is the first time I've tried this gem...

Got the 1935 John Deere Model B out today, started it and took turns driving it around the property, little popper still has it. Now that it’s restoration is finished I’m going to sell it to make room for other projects.

 

Super cool. I worked with an elderly gentleman on a project a few years back that restored and collected tractors, from Maine (I think). Super cool guy. He retired after he fell off a ladder just as he finished his massive barn to house his collection. I think he broke his hip and then I lost contact with him.
