    If i was really motivated i would start running new copper wire to a Sub panel in the Garage to replace the Aluminum wire they used in 70'and 80s ..

    I went the new service panel route redoin’ the whole shabang. Why they allowed this back then i’ll Never know.

    I know copper was not that expensive back then , Anything for the builders to up their profit margin.Luckily i had some Alum /copper Screw connectors at wk to use instead of paying another 50 or so for connectors.I have seen to many pictures of people using wire nuts and burning them up.
