If i was really motivated i would start running new copper wire to a Sub panel in the Garage to replace the Aluminum wire they used in 70'and 80s ..

 

Well that is what i bought Maytag Home Depot had a sale $400 dollars off , so hopefully this is the last one.

I went the new service panel route redoin’ the whole shabang. Why they allowed this back then i’ll Never know.

 

I know copper was not that expensive back then , Anything for the builders to up their profit margin.Luckily i had some Alum /copper Screw connectors at wk to use instead of paying another 50 or so for connectors.I have seen to many pictures of people using wire nuts and burning them up.

 

Did you use the anti oxidation paste too?
