    Hello Tacoma World,

After browsing a bit I see others have been having similar issues with their transmissions. However the discrepancies I have been having are as follows; while shifting into third it would catch, and grind really bad. It would also rattle/grind while accelerating in 4th gear. However the technical issues aside, this is a brand new truck. It has 5k miles on it. It is a $35k+ vehicle that I am paying for. I feel cheated that my brand new vehicle is having transmission issues. Is there anyway I can get Toyota to compensate me for this bullshit? A brand new 2019 vehicle should not need its transmission replaced at 5k miles. This is unacceptable. If someone can steer me in the right direction, or has been faced with a similar situation could share their outcome, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Bad parts happen occasionally in any mass produced item, if they are replacing the transmission under warranty then it sounds like they are treating you right, you may be able to open a case with corporate and could possibly end up with an extended warranty.

Welcome. I haven't seen any threads with similar issues to yours, mostly happy owners.

While it certainly sucks that your new truck needs a new transmission, Toyota will "compensate" you by replacing it free of charge and providing you a rental while they do that.

You may be able to swing an extended warranty from the dealership, but expecting anything beyond getting your truck fixed is unreasonable.

You got a bad transmission. It happens. They are going to give you a new transmission, install it and warranty it again. What is the bitch here?

I have not read anywhere about bad MT. New cars have warranties for a reason. They are taking care of it. What compensation do you think you deserve?

Sorry to hear that OP. No issues here on my 1k brand new 6mt trd or... like other member said... mass production, shit happens.. warranty fix and hope you get back to enjoy your new truck...

I would try to get extended warranty as a compensation.

    You have a warranty.

You are entitled to have it repaired under the terms of that warranty.

    Did I miss something?

I agree with the guys above....the MT crowd on here haven’t had issues like that. We more or less agree this is one of the better MTs we’ve driven, Tacoma or otherwise. You must have gotten a dud.

This is the first time I am hearing of problems with manual trannies on here. The manual Taco tranny is a clunky, notchy, grindy, stiff beast in general ("normal" in Toyota Corporate speak), and they'll need to pry it from my cold, dead hands.
