Been trouble shooting for about 2 months now. I was driving home from work one night and all of a sudden at 45mph just died. Wouldn't start at all that night. Next day was looking at it and it would start for a few seconds then die. Then trouble shooting began. Not in order, but replaced the ECU, MAF, Spark plugs, IAC sensor, Fuel pump circuit open relay, new battery still same exact thing.
The fuel pump was replaced about 6 months ago. Could it have gone bad already? When I replaced the fuel pump I had different symptoms. Also not throwing any codes.

Yes it could have. I had mine work just fine then randomly wouldn't start when I walked out of Subway. Then had one go out a year later with low fuel pressure wouldn't idle past 300rpm and backfiring causing lean code.

    I would check:

    fuel pressure

Temp sensor on the back of the head. Sounds strange but I've seen a bad sensor or wire there cause havoc (on 2.7 at least)

Can you get it to run on starting fluid? Spray some in the intake and start it. If you can keep it going with light sprays in the intake the problem is fuel delivery. Then you can go from there

Awesome thanks I’ll try that .... do you by chance know where you can test fuel pressure for the 3.4L I’m having trouble finding a spot where I can test .... looks like I need an adapter possible for my fuel pressure gauge but not sure where to get one

Also yes was able to get it running a little longer with starting fluid

I use a pressure tester that I got from Harbor Freight. Though, for the cars where I used it they all had regular hoses. Check the kit to be sure it has fittings for your hoses before you buy.

So sounds like the issue is in the fuel delivery then. Fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, etc. Sounding like pump or filter issue though

You need to install an adapter at one of the fuel rail banjo fittings with a suitable fitting for your gauge.
    https://www.autozone.com/fittings-a...1110-and-641120/773861?CJPID=2206300&cmpid=cj

Or put a "tee" fitting in the flex line from fender well to fuel rail, second choice.

As @CS_AR mentioned, it sounds like fuel delivery. I will send you the FSM so you can use the troubleshooting guide in there as guidance to help you in diagnosing.

I honestly think the pump took a crap. I have had 3 in mine within 2 years. Original failed, then aftermarket failed 1 year later then that one failed 6 months later so I installed a used one off another parts truck I have and haven't had an issue since.

These aftermarket pumps have been nothing but trouble for me. Did you replace the pump yourself last time?

I just bought a new Denso pump and gasket from RockAuto from my 99 Prerunner that I plan to install as some preventative maintenance in Sept. or Oct.

I still need to buy a fuel pump sock.

Do you think this Denso pump will be ok?

Oh, okay. You're gonna replace the sock though right? Or all you needed was the pump?
Edit: I just reread. You are replacing the sock, cool. You got it. I'll shut up lol

Doesn't look like Denso sells the prestrainer sock thing. Looking like oem or Chinese knockoff are only ones I see

I haven't found an aftermarket pump that is worth a dang myself to be honest. I ended up pulling an OEM one from a parts truck. =/

Agreed on the quality of the aftermarket fuel pumps. I've seen them fail in less than a year.

Spend the money and get OEM quality whenever available.

Denso is OEM for these I am pretty sure so it should be good.

I was just trying aftermarket options as I needed the pump IMMEDIATELY and couldn't wait for shipping. Always failed in the worst times.

1st on the way home from work at a subway....10 min from my house. came out and it wouldnt start. Had to tow it to my place so I could work on it

2nd failed driving home from work....loss of power low rpm and as I tried to accelerate the truck would missfire and stutter bad. Idled at like 200-300 RPM

3rd came out to my truck one morning to go to work and crank no start. I had to go in so I pulled the parts diagram for the parts truck i purchased 2 weeks prior and the part numbers matched. changed clothes and swapped the pumps in an hour. Changed drove to work....LOL

Happy you got it sorted! Amazing what weak fuel pressure can do
