I would like to get Spicer. But I can't seem to find a way to get the right part number for an automatic Prerunner like mine.

 

Odd thought just popped into my head, I don't think I've ever done the transfer case or differential fluids on my cruiser.... Should probably do that. Maybe that'll be tonight's project. I have like 15 bottles of 75-90 to get rid of anyway

 

@Speedytech7 if I upgraded to a Saginaw TC style steering pump which has higher PSI and GPM would my steering rack be angry or happy?

There's supposed to be some sort of pressure regulation in the rack, don't quote me on that though. I've heard of people using GM pumps on Tacoma racks with zero issues. I'd imagine if you already had a problem it would expose it faster.

 

I like the 4th gen, it's cheap and ugly and has way more aftermarket support than 3rd gen.

 

All the bearings are the same across all 1st gens.

 

You don't live in a place where it really makes much sense. Mission, TX isn't really a destination unless you're looking to get on Live PD

My pump is making dinosaur noises and there's glitter in the fluid so things are not looking hot. Thinking about trying a parts house reman but I don't want to end up swapping pumps a bunch lol

Though I have just added the PS cooler and an inline filter so maybe the parts house one would be ok

And since they don't come with a reservoir I'll probably cut it and weld a couple inches in while it's apart to give it more capacity which should help cooling and life

@Wulf it might be easier to just make a bigger ps reservoir or get an aftermarket one and enlarge that one. My stock reservoir didn’t like to be welded - it’s a 3 layer sandwich material with copper (?) in the middle.
