How many nights have you spent in it now?

Have you slept in it during rain or snow??

Are the bulb seals holding up?

 

-Less than a dozen nights.

-Slept in it during rain and very dewy mornings, no snow yet. Not any more condensation than I’ve experienced in any other style tent.

-My bulb seals are holding up great so far, but I was warned that mine will wear out faster than normal because I have kb voodoo bed rails.

 

I’m at about 16 nights, and no complaints. In fact, I’m sitting at camp right now with my friends who don’t have gfcs, and I’m watching them still pack! Haha. I tucked everything away and closed my tent in less than 15mins. My friends rtt is going to take 15 mins to put away by itself!

I’ve slept in it during a heavy rain, and it drums on the roof, but we stayed dry.

The first night condensation was bad, but we left the side windows closed. Cracking them about two inches seems to control it.

I’m having zero issues with bulb seals, and door hinges all look great so far.

My only problem is finding free time to use this thing more!

I am struggling with the incredible lead time haha. To think I have to suffer like a proletariat for that long....

I was looking at the Vagabond Drifter as well, but man I hate that it costs 2k extra just to have it not look like a coke can....

Did anyone else here consider the Vagabond before they went with the GFC?

Might look into the Snap Outfitters Treehouse. I've been happy with mine and lead times are way shorter. Likely because they aren't as well known

Something around 10? Really not as many nights as I should. I'm pretty happy with it so far! In the Midwest it's been great but I'm going to have to play around with sealing around the tailgate area better before I hit a really dusty environment. Good build quality and the folks that make them are extremely helpful! Just mailed me some nuts so I can better mount my kayak rack to the top of it. I was able to drive there to pick it up and they installed it for me

Still loving mine, no major issues with mine (#40)
Just moved to norcal, so probably be getting more rain vs what we get in SoCal. I'm seeing some rust marks sipping out from the front and rear bars.

Aside from that, the camper is the best setup for what we do. The dogs loves it too.

Although I'm still a little nervous about the setting the dog mode while driving on the hwy. Haven't had any issues yet but always on the back of my mind that only one latch is holding the panel close.

 

Did they not offer the side door when you got yours? Or did you just not get it?

The one with the full bed was moving, I don't actually pack that much to go camping!

 

The tent didn’t exist when #40 was made, so no side door option. It came along after they introduced the tent.

 

That’s a good looking truck. I like those SNAP! models a lot. Got to play with them at mid-atlantic last year they’re a pretty attractive option for anyone on the east coast for sure.

 

Thank you! I combined my pickup with a trip out to DC. I don't think I would've been able to pick up one of the others up. Between shipping costs and the PITA of self install it made it a pretty solid choice for me. I did really like the drifters too, but never put my hands on one

 

I've spent 90+ nights in the camper. I love it. It's had minor difficulties (as it was one of the first 10 and they've made changes since) and GFC has gone above and beyond to replace parts & provide really, really good customer service. Lots of rainy nights where I stayed dry inside, and one snowy night. I'm so, so happy with my purchase and have been very comfortable in the camper over the last year and a half that I've had it!

 

Being one of the early builds too I am wondering if you can expand on this so I know what to watch out for? I am only at 26 nights now but am trying to pick up the pace!

Looks like they replaced your tent with the new material - anything else?

 

I had a couple of stripped bolts in the guts of the thing and the side panels leaked in heavy rain. They took it back to MT, fixed the bolts & resealed the side panels and brought it back to me (with upgraded tent & locks). Watch for cracking/degradation in the panel hinges, too. They've been so responsive and nice to work with. I hope the same for you!

 

Is this thread for GFC mods or is this just another GFC Forum where people talk about random stuff that is sometimes related to GFC? I started following this recently but it doesn't appear to have continued on the same path that started on. This Thread seems to be very similar to the longer GFC thread there's just two places where people talk about GFC now?

 

Wasn't available, but not sure if I would have gotten it. It's nice to only have to worry about one exit for a 2yr old.
