I cut at the highest point, right above the axle. I also made my cut parallel with the ground. Sawzall makes quick work.

yeah, just past axle, cut horizontal with ground right where tubing starts to come downwards...sawzall like 30 second job and pop off rear piece at hanger mount, chuck in trash can....done

this is mine, won't even smell anything even sitting in traffic....our trucks have cats, emissions stuff, nothing like an old muscle car exhaust smell like you think it might be.....plus wind blowing etc.....no noise difference either

If there is, we have no way to know. I’ve had my exhaust cut since week 1 with no ill effects.

My concern is since he has a cap, heat and infiltration of gases could be a problem. This is very worrisome if pets are carried in the cap. Yes we have CC now but fumes can still be harmful. Just want us all to be safe.

I have a cap as well. If I ever carried pets in the back then I would definitely route it out the side, but other than that, no problems with dumping it above the axle.

I just took the swingout off my pelfreybilt this week. I love having it off, and I just added a simple $8 home depot special to the spindle and it has been awesome. You can always put it back on later if you're feeling froggy.

I’m probably going to just do this when I get back from my trip and keep the swingout for if I want to change it back up again. Thanks for the tip! Is that rubber piece to keep everything from rusting?

Yeah no rust. Its all just plumbing stuff (1-1/4" flexible coupling with some pipe and a cap) and if you want you can pack it with grease on the inside.

Is there any sort of drone on the highway? I had a magnaflow that dumped in front of the axle and you could barely have a conversation at any speeds over 60. I ended up attaching the stock tailpipe to the new muffler but I have been wanting to cut it like this so that it looks cleaner. I am afraid of the drone since I do a lot of driving between CA and AZ
