    Hey All,

So my truck didn't come with the integrated NAV (but has the traffic app, which is ridiculous).

I've got an old Garmin but I just can't find anywhere to mount it that I like. It doesn't last long in the windshield here in the Florida sun, and I can't put my sunshade up with it mounted anyways.

Sure, I can just use my phone, but the GPS in my cheap android isn't great. And I'd rather just have a standalone unit anyways.

I was thinking of designing something to replace the sunglasses holder. I don't use it anyways. Has anyone ever mounted one up here? Seems out of the way enough, only have to watch not blocking the rearview mirror.

I went with the a-pillar ram mount. I wanted an overhead mount, and I think overhead looks the best too, however it is sort of a pain to look up and out of the way of the road to see what’s going on. I felt like having the GPS mounted in the general height of the gauge cluster was best just to keep eyes on the road.

That being said, maybe try @MESO for a solution. He makes overhead console switch panels, maybe he can adapt a universal version for GPS use.

Otherwise you can mount a ram ball up in the console and get a mounting arm of the right length and then a RAM cradle specific to your GPS if they offer them for the most streamlined and also removable setup (out of sight from thieves).

A Pillar Ram 1 inch Ball with cell phone holder holds the Garmin GPS just fine

From my experience with gps’s they have a pretty good reception. I use to mount my old one in the cubby in front of the shifter and the hide the wires behind everything. You could mount it with a schose magnet mount.or heavy duty velcro

The only thing I hate about that spot is that it's annoying to run a charge cable over there.

I had s 3 USB wired underneath and run wires up from the kick panel and under the Pillar.
