I also dislike most campgrounds because of the close proximity to others. There's nothing more annoying than loud and obnoxious people who are oblivious of their surroundings. The last time I stayed in an organized campground, I had a campsite neighbor who slammed and locked their car doors (making the horn honk each time) about 100 times throughout the night. :annoyed:

You can go backpack (primitive) camping in Forbes State Forest, which is only about one hour east of Pittsburgh. It has some very beautiful areas and it's huge, so you can find a spot for some peace and quiet. There are also several natural springs where you can get drinking water.
I've also done some truck camping up in the Susquehannock State Forest, which is also huge and has some very cool scenic areas.

I actually live close to Forbes state forest. I guess what i really need to do is to start looking into the state parks/ forests for spots. Since their pretty much in my back yard.

    Thanks

Marienville is on the edge of Allegheny National Forest. Lots of fire roads to get lost on up there. If you use your phone for GPS I'd definitely recommend saving the area in your app since theres no service.

I was contemplating that crossmember removal yesterday. But each flat that abuts the bed has a spot weld to the bed. I might take a guess I would probably bend up the bed so much as to do far more harm than good (let alone create scratches/abrasions that just let in corrosion)? I therefore wouldn't go after it with an air chisel, nor do I feel like doing the work of drilling out all the spot welds and re-welding when I'm done. This bed is geared at saving me much more time than repairing my current. Here are some pics of my current bed. Yes... you can see what the end stage result is of rust underneath on those crossmember-like pieces, nearly rotten through from the top side. But looking at the shape of this new bed and the shape of the old one... seems like I've got about 5-10 years of life in this new bed even if I did nothing. But... I am planning on spraying in some Fluid Film brand stuff to those cross member things once the 3M Body Schutz is applied to the exterior stuff of the underside.

I can't remember the app but there are some really good state forest maps. Maybe @Nimble9 can chime in. He does a lot of camping at state parks.

I have a camp near there. It's nice but you can absolutely get lost and not have service.

I'm trying to justify getting new wheels instead of just tires...does anyone have any idea what fair market rate would be for selling a set of 16" pro wheels (25K miles, never off road)? Stock tires have 5/32 left...

I'd say keep them and just throw some new shoes on her. Those are some nice wheels

that would def keep me out of the dog house, as while the Mrs. is pretty oblivious to my mods, even she would notice some gold/copper wheels wrapped in 285s.

Just did a windshield on this Colorado. Imo it's a good looking truck.

For the money that thing is new, you can buy a new 3rd gen Tacoma and put the twin turbos currently being developed on it and have probably 2-3k left over

We do a lot of dealerships. This one is used of course I'm not even sure how much they were asking for it. Oh and I'm sure they don't hold there value like the tacos do
