haha it's a fun joke, but it is overused...like literally the only joke anyone makes about LSU anymore, and yes everyone literally can understand him they just like making fun of the Cajun accent.

and he had the best response about the off-conference scheduling:

I literally know almost nothing about Auburn this season....which is usually when they have their best seasons if the past shows us anything...

Gotcha. Well here’s to a good game but I’m hoping the very veteran Oline we have and the talented skill position players come ready to lay the wood. Really liking what Cristobal is doing over here.

    Herbert coming back was huge!
CJ verdell if he can stay healthy will have a good year!
The grad transfer Juwan Johnson is a big bodied receiver that we haven’t seen at Oregon for a long time! The true freshman mycah Pitman has been getting rave reviews out of spring ball and the start of camp saying that he’s catching everything coming at him which is what organ needs after we led the nation in dropped passes last year.

Defensively we have some guys coming back that will give fits to anybody in the nation like Troy Dye leading the team in tackles three years in a row are nose guard Jordon Scott is a force and our corners are in their third year of playing together

It’s to touch on a couple of things

Herbert is gonna be fun to watch. Would love for another Neb V Oregon series. Thankfully Oregon fell asleep in the second game to make it look closer than it was. :anonymous:

    Head unit. That's it.
"The Mecca" of college football is cyclical, along with the most dominant team for a certain period. It used to be Texas, hell Texas even held it for quite some time after they fell from relevance. I think the B12 shrinking hurt Texas even more.

Now, it rests in Alabama, however, I feel as though once the Saban era is over, it will quickly move on to another (Clemson?).

Here's an interesting thought: If Dabo leaves Clemson around the time that Saban moves into something else......Which program becomes the dominant program? (I think Dabo will stay at Clemson far longer than he should, as they just wont want to let him go, even if he has down year(s) or decades...Think Joe Paterno.)

Who is poised to dominate for an era? 3 or 4 years at a minimum? Who has the staff, the recruiting ability?

Who is next, if NOT Clemson?

Ohio State or Georgia. Recruiting as both places, especially Georgia, has been great.

Texas didn’t have a QB after McCoy and fell apart. B12 restructuring couldn’t hurt them because they’re making more money with the smaller pool.

I'm just hoping for Neb to be relevant on a national stage again. They are not NEXT by any stretch though. If I had to pick a NEXT... besides Clemson, I'd lean towards Ohio State in the coming years possibly, Georgia may get lucky one year but not quite achieve a dominance period :crapstorm:

I'll say Oklahoma... Just to :boink: @drifter379

I think it's Clemson and Alabama for the next 2-4 years until Saban retires. However, I believe the gap is shrinking and what we are really looking at is about 4-6 schools that year in, year out will have a strong chance to win a championship.

To expound on that, I think we are in line for another Bama/CU rematch this year simply because of Tua and Trevor. They are by far the 2 best QBs in the country and have loaded WR groups with a running game to boot. The following year I think is all Clemson with Trevor in his 3rd and final year and AL breaking in a new QB. After that, Alabama and CU will still be at the top but you also have UGA, OU and OSU that will be really, really good as well.

In summary, Alabama or Clemson again this year. Clemson next year and then 5 really good teams fighting year in, year out. Not sure we see another dynasty type run like USC of the early 200s or Bama since the late 2000s. Clemson is close but watch out for Kirby Smart and UGA and Lincoln Riley and OU. I really believe with Riley's style and how well they are now recruiting, they are poised to breakthrough and win another one.

As a Clemson fan, it's exciting. As a college football fan, it's even more exciting. I love the playoff and I love that there was is going to be so much competition the next 5 years or so.

If the Cowboys have a sub par season this year, don't be surprised if Jerry's World doesn't have Riley at the helm for 2020. He has the swag/cockiness/confidence to make the jump and potentially have early success.

Fair perspective and point. I didn't think of that but I agree with you. Better version of Kingsbury but will the accolades to back it up.

I think y’all are confusing Mecca with meaning success. While Texas hasn’t had the success that other programs have had over the years they have still had to top selling Merch and most revenue generated top spots locked up. Even in the lean years Texas has maintained some of the best facilities in the nation. Also after our newest renovation is done I believe we will have the largest stadium in the state for sure if not the country.
Now it’s possible I may be slightly biased but calling Texas the Mecca isn’t really that far off.

Alabama has historically been the most successful program but outside of college football fans, football is not the first thing that comes to mind when you mention Alabama. I think uncle daddy cousin fuckers tops that list for Alabama.

When most people think football on any level the first response is usually Texas. And when a state is known for football the flag ship university of that state could conceivably be referred to as the Mecca.

    mecca

A mecca is a place that attracts people to it. The huge outlet mall near your hometown is a mecca for shoppers and bargain hunters.

.....the word mecca gradually came to mean "place where people really want to go." So you might describe Las Vegas as a mecca for gamblers and Cirque du Soleil fans.

That “dynasty” was 1 and 1/2 titles. With cheaters that caused them to vacate wins and return a Heisman.
