Maybe I don't have a very precise pallet, but Weller SR is my #1 favorite bourbon...and I've had lots of supposedly good stuff.

What kind of laws do we have? I just try to go to liquor stores and get what I can if I see it.

    I hear you.
Everyone seems to shit on it, maybe because it’s readily available for retail where they are. They turn their noses up to anyone that pays secondary for it because there are sooooo many others better for THAT price.
Any weller is hard come by in CA, so when I see one on a shelf priced reasonably, I grab it cause I like it.

Yeah, it's not available in my area either. I do know of a region one state away that has it readily available, so I stock up when I go that way and have anyone coming this way bring it. Last time I went, I bought 9 bottles. Relatives came for the 4th and brought 4 more. I'm down to 2 bottles, but I'll be heading that way shortly.

I wasn't too impressed with my first pour of Weller's SR. I'll come back to it.

Picked this up though, this might be more up my alley.

Regardless of size, a store (including multiple locations) receives the same “allocation” for regulated products as all others. So, if a store has 1 or 10 locations, they receive the same number of regulated product as a small single location retailer. Also, restaurants receive priority over all sales. Surrounding states don’t have these laws. If a store orders product and the distribution warehouse has it, they release it for sale. The state mostly stays out of it.

“Laws” don’t have any effect in regards to what bottles you do and do not receive. If they don’t get the highly allocated bottles it’s typically for one of two reasons, they haven’t kissed enough reps ass or they don’t spend enough money and purchase the volumes required to get allocations. Those bottles end up at stores that shittier products such as vodka. BT wants to sell more than just pappy...they want to move all their spirits too.

My poor pup had surgery to remove a few lipomas earlier this week. Been a ruff weekend, and it's time for a drink.

Thanks, she'll be okay once the stitches and drain tubes are removed next week. Then next month it's knee surgery!

Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve is fantastic for the cost IMHO.

Picked up another bargain whiskey this weekend. Finally decided to pull the trigger on a bottle of Mellow Corn. For $16 it is shockingly good, has a definite bite to it, but is smooth with little burn. I'm impressed and will definitely keep a bottle on hand.

Shhhh! Mellow Corn is a hidden gem. If too many people start buying it its gonna get expensive. It's good for BIB whiskey regardless of price.
