You still owed that bank for the CC the money and if you would have forgotten to pay it then you would of been hit with the interest rate. You just are good about paying it off on time. CC companies go off of % of people that will actually not pay on time or in full to make their money there are fewer people like yourself which they loose money on. It's just like insurance. These are gambling industries betting against you so they can make money off you.

I pay for 99% of things I pay for with credit cards, so the cash back really adds up over a year. I then use it to buy things I would be buying already with or without that money so it is technically "savings"

I think it would be beneficial, if you took that 5% at the end of the year and put it towards what you owe. That's where it would benefit you the most!

sure, credit cards aren't for people who are forgetful or careless with finances. the key is, I don't forget to pay it off. therefore, I owe nobody anything with the cards.

That changes when you bring a significant other into the mix and you are both using it.

if I take the 5% and buy groceries, or I take the 5% and put it in savings...it's the same thing, because the groceries have to be bought anyways.

I looked at it for me I have a hard time with it. I do something very similar on paper. But I am also the dude that pays all his bills with checks and still mails them in. I have a hard time with viewing stuff on the screen. His daughter Rachel Cruz has some good stuff I am working on for teaching the kiddo about saving and stuff. The thing I like about him is he was flat out bankrupt broke vs others trying to teach their way when they've never been there before.

that's why you don't do that. I'm sure we will cancel some duplicate cards we have, but will keep our own as well.

But that's who they are targeting to make money otherwise it wouldn't be a smart business giving away cash back or airline miles etc because they would loose money. You are right though for someone that can't control themselves or pay them off easily and keep a huge debt on them they are horrible idea and make matters worse.

lol I don't have a "plan" I just am sort of financially minded. it all makes sense to me. I have always said if I didn't go into engineering I would've been an accountant.
