I can only get one small zip tie in and it's not resolving my complaint. Thinking about throwing some tack welds on the rives to see if I can minimize the play.

What’s the issue you are having? If I remember correctly the symptom that the zip tie fix is for is excess play in that joint. I would hit a bump slightly not square on and you could hear a loud bang as that joint slammed from one side to the other

That’s it. It’s a nuisance more than anything but I do feel like it’s progressively getting worst so I keep thinking I’m going to loose steering at some point.

I wish I could remember why I got rid of the welded joint and went back to one with zip ties, but I’d recommend trying to get as many in there as possible before resorting to the welder. $1 worth of zip ties vs $80 or whatever that section of shaft costs if you don’t like it.

I remember it was successful in getting rid of the clunk. You did get a lot more road feedback at the wheel, but that’s not why I got rid of that one and replaced it. I really don’t remember what I didn’t like/ why I ended up getting a new one instead of keeping running the welded setup

Besides cutting off the shackle hanger and replacing it, what are thoughts on bending it back just welding the seam? I will of course remove the shackle and bushings.

I reached out to Tim at DMZ and he is going to send me a new one for free. Let me tell you, he has excellent customer service. And I am apparently the first person to break a part of his kit.

I am not sure how I broke this. I mainly just do a lot of wheelin. I may have caught it on a rock ? I have not heard any loud pops on my recent trips and I am usually pretty good at inspecting my rig after outings.

I feel like I should just cut off the old hanger. But I know it will be a major pain.

If I do cut off the old one, do I have to break apart my spring pack and cycle the suspension again? Or can I just take some good measurements and then weld it on.

You could get a solid round or all thread bar through the other side and use an angle finder to locate it. I imagine you could be close to original. Never hurts to break apart the spring pack and cycle though.

Luckily I am on a work trip for the next month. It will give me time to ponder. I may fix it right and cut it off. I think I should be able to get it close if I measure the otherside.

I'm mostly just sowing seeds of chaos. That's a pretty interesting place to break though.
