I keep my fob in my pockets at work, I am up and walking around 12-15hrs a day, and all depends on where the buttons are.. my mazda FOB I would have to change the battery nearly every 6 months because of this.. tacoma I have not had to change yet (only had it since october of 2018...)

FOB = a small attached item
Generally a term referencing the remote (key)
It can also mean “Freight On Board” a term referencing delivery terms. It translates into “Your transportation is responsible for pickup at our loading facility”. As others have mentioned, it can have additional meanings.

I just went through this over the last day. It turns out that the rear LEDs that we’re supposed to be no error and the resistor were the culprit. I have a feeling it was the resistor specifically (pictured) as I lived with hyperflashing for a week or so and my issues with the “brake override malfunction “ warning didn’t show up until I installed the resistor.

2023 Tacoma V-6 8000 miles. I had the same problem, intermittent, push the start button, get a click but no starter noise.
Changed the battery in the key fob which SEEMS to have fixed it.
    Old battery 3.0 volts
    New battery 3.4 volts

Was that the problem? Maybe, stay tuned.

Well it turns out it was not the key fob. It was the starter. When it gets hot the starter or the solenoid seizes and won’t turn. Let cool off for about 10 minutes and it’s ok again. Fixed at the dealer under warranty.
