Woke up this morning and was not feeling super well. Lots of residual stiffness and soreness.
Worked out and felt better. I realize my diet hasn’t been too great. Eating too little and not recovering well as a result.

I don’t care what anyone says, sometimes you do need to force feed yourself to get the nutrition you need.

After years as an athlete I can tell you its a unique feeling when your malnurished for your activity level. So its easy to recognize.

Does anyone else feel the same?

Absolutely. Summer time especially due to the heat and all you really want is water.

Felt this yesterday. Didn’t get as much water as normal, missed two meals, felt like trash the rest of the day as a result. For me, work keeps me on track and on a schedule so to speak. I need to get better about managing water and meal intake when I’m not working.

    Impressive. What’s your bodyweight?

    How much do you squat?

I’d ask bench but judging by your chest pics I’d say...135? :stirthepot:

    Pass.

I did Arnold’s Blue Print for 30 minutes one day and quit. That was enough for me to realize I’d rather do anything but BB programs :)

    I’ll stick to mine :cookiemonster:

    BW 175# - bench 330

Squat - I hit 350 for triples 5months post hip surgery. Before surgery I hit 429. I’ll be back there soon..

Deadlifts are my weak lift. Lifetime max 472. Pulled 365 for 5 on Saturday (because I couldn’t let @tacopaulo outlift me and he kept adding weight). First real deadlift set since surgery as well...

Injuries are tough. I never liked benching and when I started I had no idea what I was doing and hurt my shoulders early on. I keep pushing because I figured it was normal - nobody ever said lifting was comfortable - so heck with it right??

After a year of pain I just stopped doing barbell bench shit because of my shoulders. This could also be why they're more developed - shitty form.

Bench fucks my shoulders too. I get pains even with light weight. I just use DBs for bench and even usually do them on the ground so I physically can’t go lower than 90*

Uhh... your rotator cuffs must be super weak then. Have your GF help you with that.

And actually that is not unusual as a swimmer I imagine because your pecs and rhomboids are probably taking over your strokes so your cuff gets cut out, not worked and therefore becomes weak. I’d be curious if your gf agrees with that.

I’ve had surgery but shoulders handle bench just fine
You guys need to add some band/cuff work to your routines. It will change your life.

It’s always been like this for me. In high school had the issue. In college I couldn’t do it either when I played for Hawaii. The teams strength coach (who wasn’t that great) had me do DB presses instead.

You are right on the rotator cuffs being weak though. I had a medium-bad injury my senior year of HS playing club volleyball. Couldn’t play the last day of my last tournament because I couldn’t lift my arm above my pec without pain. My chiro/therapist said maybe a very small tear.

My girlfriend does have me on a supporting shoulder muscle workout. See pics below

Shoulders have to be one of the top gym injuries. Mine are shit but somehow still hold together. When I went to the ninja gym a couple weeks ago I thought I ripped my arms off. I could barely raise my arms for a couple days. All the swinging and jarring impact from going bar to bar with my full body weight really did them in. They are still a little sore and random motions pinch a bit but they haven’t affected any of my workouts. One thing I have started doing more is warming them up a lot before workouts with a PVC pipe, seems to help.

I think it will be a while until I try that ninja life again

We used to use the PVC pipes as warmups in college before lifting. It's definitely a great thing to do. The pics I posted of my strengthening of the support muscles is good. I've been bad at doing them. Need to start doing them 2-3 times a day again

I had a similar experience when I tried indoor rock climbing for the first time. I was sore as heck!

I try to do the cardio. Yesterday I walked just over a couple miles...and hit the gym. I can’t believe how poor I felt when I wasn’t physically active. It’s like everything just goes down hill if you don’t keep moving. Kind of like 4WD....Use it or Lose it.

Facts. The about 3-5 weeks I was unable to be active was awful. I feel more tired, less energy throughout the day. Nothing feels right
