    Looking good!

Try removing the rear hood seal. I have and also put small hood spacers at the hinges to lift the rear of the hood slightly.

Good to know. I'm currently browsing Lexus cars and SUV's for a nice match.

You can install the bypass flaps later if what you are looking at doesnt have them.

I used a set from here:

As for wrap. I don’t have headers so nothing is wrapped there yet. My whole y pipe is done in DEI wrap and then I have some thick 1” insulation around the cats and near the y pip connections. You can kind of see it here. It helped with trans temps but I didn’t see a change in engine temps.

Wrapping your exhaust does nothing to help decrease engine temps. You are trapping the heat in. Unless you are protecting another component from heat coming off the exhaust, it is a bad idea to wrap your exhaust.

That mod helps incredibly for improving airflow in the AC system too! It has increased my cold temperature output tenfold during the summer. While sitting in park and taking my lunchtime nap.

I was doing it to protect the transmission more than anything which it helped. Wrapping headers in the engine bay though will keep radiant heat down.

Plenty of performance guys out there doing that to keep under the hood temps down and protect electrical components and what not.

Why is it a bad idea?

I thought by wrapping exhaust you contain the heat which promotes it accelerating to the exit. I would think it's a good thing as well. like the reason ceramic coatings are used.

Thanks for the pics. Looks good!

Wrap does help to keep heat in the pipe which is good for underhood temps AND performance but bad for the pipe itself. The extra heat cooks the exhaust supposedly.

At least in the motorcycle world, without proper tuning to help cool the motor, guys would wrap their headers and melt their exhaust valves. Not pretty.

I haven’t seen anything over 194° yet this summer. Same radiator as you and stock thermostat.

You just have a lot in there in the way of the radiator @GT7 besides, you were in what would be considered a "severe duty" situation. 118 is COOKING!

Big ass tires and no re-gear. That’s not helping.

I’m actually wondering about that thermostat setup you’re running. Sure it’s a 160°. But, is it sized properly for extreme conditions. Too little flow and you’ll get hot obviously. Too much flow and the coolant isn’t in the radiator long enough to transfer the heat into the air.

Meh. The only thing about wrap ive heard is it can hold moisture and accelerate rust in non-stainless manifolds. Otherwise i dont think its cooking the pipe or anything
