Oof yeah that's steep. I think I'll just bank on being able to adapt my wiring harness to the new lights. If all else fails I'll try that part. Thanks for looking into that man

None yet, chomping at the bit for the first one.
I’ve been told by many people not to do this.

My experience has been that the lights might not fit, and that there isn't a part that would make them fit. The lights, the bezel, the indicator housing and the wiring harness have changed over the years. Let's say you have a 2002 and the lights you want to use are from your 2002, and you have a bezel and housing from a 2009. The lights may not fit in that bezel. So you would have to get lights from a 2009, but then they would have a different wiring harness than your 2002. I am not saying they couldn't be spliced to work, but it wouldn't be plug and play. I hope I am understanding the issue correctly and not muddying the waters.

Yeah, i'm coming to learn that. All these part numbers are getting confusing. Seems like this is a pretty common swap that tons of people have done, suprised there's not a straight forward answer floating around somewhere on the internet. Seems like the only decent write-up is on hdforums, but that's where most of my confusion have stemmed from to be honest

I looked at that write up when I did my swap as well. The bottom line is that the parts changed so frequently that you can't guarantee them to be compatible from year to year. You can make it work, but you will probably have to do some splicing. If you want it to be plug and play, the only way to guarantee that it is to buy parts from different models of your same year. I went through the exact same thing when I redid my speedo/odo set up.

If you guys even care, I figured out what parts to make it work, hopefully plug an play, with no splicing! My stock wiring harness from my '99 should work with a combination of parts from a 2007 1200L low and a 2017 1200T superlow. They both use the same speedometer top clamp. My '99 wiring harness/ lights just have the little bulbs that pull out of the housing thing, just like the 2007 diagram shows. Should be able to jam those puppies into part 24 on this diagram

    http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...20SPEEDOMETER%20AND%20TACHOMETER%20ASSEMBLIES

Then use the bezel/ jewel from the 2017 (part 8 on this diagram), since those corresponding part numbers from the 2007 no longer exist

http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/ronnies/showmodel.asp?Type=13&make=hdmc&a=1200&b=45&c=0&d=2017 XL 1200T SUPERLOW 1200T (LL) SPEEDOMETER ASSEMBLY

    What do you guys think?

@SweetT Thanks for linking the Ronnies HD site with all the diagrams.

I have no idea if your lights will fit into that housing because the newer ones are led. I would get the parts and try it. You’re almost there so you should be able to make it work. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Yeah, I think i should be able to make it work. If i have to make the holes slightly larger I can, but looking at the diagram from my '99 and the one from 2007 (the housing piece that I just ordered), The lights look exactly the same.

My worry would be the size of the holes. Drilling them out larger - no problem. Making them smaller? Eeeehhh...

I just hope the electrical harnesses are the same between your 99 and the 07. If they are, then you should be good to go on that end. Also I am no electrical wizard by any means but hopefully the difference in draws between hallogens and LEDS doesn't cause an issue for you.

Trust me when I say, I hope it works out.

I wont be switching out the harness or the lights. Keeping the halogens and inserting them into the new housing. The same way the lights on the 2007 insert directly into the housing

Oh for some reason I thought there was a harness switch happening somewhere. I think you will be able to make it work.

Shoot, I screwed my speedo relocate up the first time around and drove without a speedo for like 3 weeks haha.

Haha I considered that as an option too! Only thing is that I like the dummy lights because I'm a dummy and like to see when I'm in neutral. I guess they do make top clamps that just hold the dummy lights but I also wanna keep the speedo to keep track of mileage

today I ordered some motul 300v and a couple oem honda filters off the internets in preparation for my first oil change
honda manual says first change at 600 miles or at 1 month, I've had it just over a month now so will wait until I turn 500 miles sometime this week and then change oil&filter next weekend

Because I like to consider myself a fabricator, I'm building a set of these for the scooter. I fail to see why these cost $900 even if you consider that it's $200 in Pelican cases. Found some Chinese knock off cases for half price and building my own mounting brackets/cages. Not entirely sure how I'll like them, but worth a shot since I'll probably be in them about $130 including what I spent on the two cases already.
