I am trying to figure out how to properly wire a 3 prong LED rocker switch as a power wire for a dual voltmeter.....help is greatly appreciated. I know the voltmeter does not draw very much power but I would like a switch so I can turn it on and off when needed. Thank you!

I have the dual voltmeter and 3 prong round LED switch as seen in the pictures.

Do you have any idea what blade does what on your switch ?

As for the Voltmeter just break the common ground wire to turn it on and off.

Without seeing just how your dual batteries are set up there might be a easier way to wire the dual voltage gauge then direct to each battery

I don’t know what each blade does on the switch. They are labelled 1, 2 and 3 with the gold (blade 3) being the ground.

The voltmeter would be easy to install if I didn’t need to power the LED. I’m assuming Blade 1 or 2 are for power and the other for the accessory but I’m not sure how to hook up all the wires since I have 2 power wires.

My dual battery setup is a OffGrid Engineering side by side set up. I don’t want to try to find hot wires inside the cab so my easy option was to run a power wire from each battery and a common ground.

The LED on your switch will not be functional since you will negatively switch the voltmeters on or off. You'd need two switches and use them to positively switch the meter off. If you go that route, the switch will have an input (from battery positive) and output (to your voltmeter) and the third terminal will connect to ground and will light up the LED when the switch is closed (voltmeter on).

Just why do you want a switch ??

Unless your Truck sits for weeks or months on end

Well it looks like I’m going with a single on/off non LED switch. Thanks for the help.

I bought a new 2 pin non LED switch so I don’t need to worry about powering it.
It is just that easy to “turn on/off” the voltmeter? All I need to do is wire the switch between the common ground so it breaks the connection? No issues with safety?

I want a switch to turn off the voltmeter when not in use. Truck is not a daily driver and sometimes sits for a while between use.

Breaking the common ground will shut things off.

Do you also disconnect your radio and the clock ??

Great, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure there were no safety issues.

Nope, but I did kill my battery last winter because I didn’t drive it for about 2 weeks.

    It's complicated.
In that case, you should install a battery disconnect switch.

Better yet, use a battery maintainer. Keeps them topped up and happy indefinitely.
