Are TPMS sensors able to be calibrated as to specific pressure reading, and to go with that what is their accuracy? Reason I say this is today I was looking at my dash and it was saying my tires were at 32psi. I usually do about 34 so I figured I would add a little air. Well both my handy dandy electronic gauges read the tires at 35. I am positive that last time I measured the truck, my hand gauges said the same thing as my dash gauge, so why the difference now? BTW I just had the truck in for 20k at the dealer and tires rotated. Any ideas appreciated.

Assume you measure both ways when the tires were at the same temp. In other words if you looked at the TMPS while sitting in your garage and then used the manual gauges to check after you drove 10 miles while it's 90 degrees out your readings would most assuredly be different. So, if all things where measured equally, you might see up to maybe 2 psi difference. Read through the manual for all of the things that affect this reading. Any more than that, take it to the dealer if it's still under warranty.

I noticed a 5psi difference the first time I aired down my tires. Checked the forums and elevation might play a role. I live in Colorado, so this leaves me looking for a fix. If there is a way to calibrate the sensors, I'd love to know as well!

Colorado as well, south west metro area. After looking at things for a few days now my tpms is almost the same as my guage. Maybe a pound right now. Wondering if there is just random drift in TPMS sensors or if the dealer did a reset and it takes time for things to come back into line. Not too worried if there is not a fix as I mainly use the trucks system just to look if I have a leak or something. I always use a good pressure gauge when I actually add air

I think when you to the reset of the tpms it will go off the current psi in the tires. the sensor just knows to trigger the light at +/- 7psi or something like that, from set number. so you could set your psi to 30 and reset the tpms and would not get a light until 37 or 23psi. 20psi...27 or 13psi. They arent set to the factory spec. they are very actuate. asking for a lawsuit if they arent actuate. your gauges are probably off a little bit.

What did we ever do before TPMS?
The stress this device is causing.

We had things like higher profile tires with softer sidewalls that could be seen as low in pressure. Tires have changed. Styles have changed. It's not that people can't take care of there vehicles. Safety standards are ever changing. It's really less stressful than guessing if my psi is correct when i can check the dash.

Elevation above 5000' tend to do some funny things with psi read from the TPMS and our handheld gauge.
I live at 7000' and see a 3-4 psi difference, TPMS reads lower.

I think the Ford explorer rollover /Firestone blowout fiasco was part of tpms becoming wide spread.

It would be more helpful if it had a tire fill mode.
