Replacement Front Seats

I have a '01 Tacoma with bucket seats & full center console. I am looking to replace the front seats with something better/more supportive. I know that if its not a Taco seat, it won't be a direct bolt in and some welding is required.

What seats have you installed and like/not-liked?

I was thinking of a set of Honda Prelude seats.

 

Why would you buy used seats if you’re replacing your used ones. Order some Corbeu sport seats with their brackets and enjoy.

 

the bucket seats are not supportive?
bench seats are probably worse for a longer drive

 

I can pick up a pair of seats from the junkyard for $20-40 each.

 

My truck has a 260k miles... and it's a little beat up. I think the back has a bend in the frame.

 

WRX seats are a popular choice. Ones from a regular Impreza are also pretty comfy.

YMMV, I bought some WRX seats but they have a very thick base so my head was in the ceiling because I'm tall. I would consider Integra or Civic seats since they're common, have a thinner base, and should be cheap.

I put 3rd gen 4runner seats in and they're pretty comfy but I had to do some cutting and welding to fit them

It would be interesting to see how universal brackets from corbeu or someplace else would work in our trucks. The back of the stock seats bolt sideways into the tranny tunnel, not the floor like those brackets do.

 

my 2004 buckets were killing my lower back,a**,roids etc after driving 80 miles to work(construction) I was looking into replacement seats but it was too much of a hassle to get new or replacements so I bought these and it worked out better for me

Corbeau has Tacoma specific brackets... when I look up the ones for my truck, they say:

The Corbeau Toyota Tacoma seat brackets are manufactured to be a direct bolt in to the 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma that came from the factory with bucket seats or a 60/40 split seat. Direct bolt in means your bracket will bolt to the existing bolt holes in your floor board with little to no modifications. Corbeau Toyota seat brackets are powder coated in a black wrinkle finish and include Double Locking Sliders.

Still... it would be nice to get a post on here from someone who has them...

There is a guy on here from Hawaii (can't remember his name sorry) and he put the Corbeau's in his i believe 98. They look great and really are a direct bolt in. And I believe they were these seats

Pretty sure that's a CYA disclaimer on their behalf in case something doesn't work out.

If you have a reg cab with a bench you may have to drill the 4 inner holes but I don't know for sure.

 

You don't drill anything. They are direct bolt in, see my previous post.

 

That seat bracket is no more than flat plate welded together and bent with holes drilled out. Easily made at home. You could buy a welder and steel and make your own with any imaginable seat from the Junk Yard for less than half the price of a Corbeau setup.

 

The regular cab single bench doesn't use all 8 holes that the 60/40 and bucket seats do. The remaining ones may or may not be pre drilled but they will be marked.

Going from 60/40 bench to buckets won't require any drilling

 

But then you assume OP has welding skills, and the ability to put sliders on. just my 2 cents.
