Alright, we all know ECGS is awesome, but I had no idea how awesome they were until today. I recently bought gears from them, and just finished the break-in process. Yesterday I was changing the diff oil, and pulled these chunks of metal off the magnetic drain plug from the front diff.

I didn't think much of it, since I wasn't hearing any noise from the diff. I decided to shoot them an email anyways to be on the safe side, and have a paper trail in case any issues arise in the future.

Well Chase responded later that night (5:30pm on a Sunday), asking for a more clear pic. This morning he responded with this:

Picture is definitely better, but I am still unsure. It appears to be part of a bearing, from a failure. It is my guess it was present in the housing and has worked its way out. We wash all the differentials thoroughly in a commercial machine and with brake clean. However the pinion galley can hide stuff as you cant reach your finger or anything in there. You basically have to float stuff out or blow it out which we do but stuff can hide that you cannot see. My assumption is, it was hidden in there and has now floated out. If those pieces were from the new parts installed you would have issue. Significant noise.

It is certainly not ideal that those came out, and I am embarrassed that it did, but I believe your differential is fine. Moving forward – 1. I can ship you some gear oil so that you can flush the front and rear again in 500-1000 miles to ensure nothing else is present. 2. We could build a new diff and recall that one. 3. We could offer you a discount. Either way the differential is under warranty and if any issues arise we would take care of it.

Just let me know what you would like to do. If it were mine I would flush the gear oil a few times and not worry about it. I will send you a Case of oil and $100 credit.

Confirming what I thought, the diff was fine. I agreed to take some gear oil to do a flush (which I was planning on anyways) but insisted that was all I needed, a partial refund wasn't necessary. He asked for my shirt size, and that was the end of our convo.

A few minutes later I get an automated email that they refunded me $100 anyways! Who does that?? Right after another email came through with tracking info, and their care package will arrive tomorrow.

I knew they had great customer service but this blew me away. I will continue to direct any and all my friends to do business with ECGS.

They have done me right in the past as well. Great people. blew the stock diff, took it to them and repaired / regeared. I blew that regeared diff a year or so later, they replaced it under warranty, no questions asked.
