If you are doing head gaskets on the 1GR-FE engine, then this is the parts kit you want. But I couldn't ever find a list of what parts it contains. The picture online only shows a handful of the largest gaskets. Does it really contain all the gaskets you need for this job?

Here is the answer: YES. Except for the FIPG.

    pk2.jpg
Here are the big ones: Head gaskets, upper and lower intake gaskets, water pump, valve covers, exhaust ...

    pk1.jpg
And here are some of the smaller ones. Throttle body. Water outlets (both sides). Timing access cover. O-rings for the stupid valley tube. Valve seals. Oil strainer tube o-ring. Oil fill spout. Two copper metal looking rings (?). Front shaft seal o-ring. Some other o-rings maybe for coolant? It even has one of those stupid blue gaskets for the oil drain plug!

    pk3.jpg
But wait, there's more! It also has all these little o-rings and parts. I don't even know what they are (yet)!

The only thing missing is the FIPG stuff, which it turns out is super expensive and/or possibly discontinued. And I still need to find some.

I ordered way too many gaskets for this job, because the online picture for this kit was so incomplete. Don't make the same mistake as me!

I used permatex Ultra grey silicone with 100% leak free success for the timing cover instead of fipg from toyota.
Make sure surfaces are clean, dry and oil free. Clean sealing surface with lacquer thinner or acetone on a lint free rag.

Does this kit have the oil coolant pipe o-rings?
Also does this kit contain the updated head gaskets that replaced the bad ones in 05 Tacoma’s?

Hi everyone, I finally got around to writing up some words of wisdom from my head gasket job last year. You can find it over on my build thread.

Yes, and yes. The only thing I think that was missing was one of the oil pickup o-rings, and some of the downstream exhaust gaskets. But maybe they were included and I just lost track of them. It's been a while!

Do you think the full kit was cheaper than if you'd bought those parts individually? Usually thats the way its done but with OEM dealership parts who knows?

In the past I've had no issues buying toyota FIPG on eBay but would not hesitate to just buy the correct permatex flavor like "the right stuff", or a similar Oil resistant RTV.

Yes, way cheaper. I bought most of the kit separately as well. Doh!

Hey, sorry to revive an old thread but any chance you figured out what the metal washers are for? I know one is for the oil pan but I can’t figure out the other 6

If I ever figured it out, I've long since forgotten.

It seems plausible that a couple of them might be for the front diff, since the FSM calls for removing the whole front drivetrain (to remove the oil pan, which isn't necessary). I know that uses two metal crush gaskets, but I'm not sure if that's what these are. I bought a whole bunch of them around the time I did the ECGS bushing, planning to eventually re-gear (and since have). So now I just have a baggie of random metal washers and gaskets, some of which are the correct ones for the diff housings and transfer case. Not sure which of them are from the regrind kit. Looks like I'll be rooting around in there again, I've got a leaking axle...

    :(

    And power-steering hoses...

    And AC compressor...

Oh and now three years after the head gasket, I'm starting to get a little oil leak from the timing cover where it meets the valve cover over the power steering pump. Not bad at all, but...

    :annoyed:
