Two reasons for me. The F150 is a tight fit for my driveway, and for the same options, and F150 is $10k more. Also, the ranger is just as if not more capable off road. The only things the F150 has over the ranger is more towing/hauling capacity (not a factor for me, ie: tacoma), interior space (again, I have a tacoma) and higher trim options (if you want to spend 70k). Looks are subjective. I'm not a fan of the new F150, but the Ranger looks great when its leveled.

Both my daughters told me not to get the taco because it looks like it has a pig nose. Looks are subjective. They wanted the F150. Off road capability depends on what trim you get. An FX4 ranger is better off road than a SR5/Sport/Limited Tacoma. The Ranger is also better for "truck" things since it has more payload and towing, plus some might say the steel bed is preferable.

Posts like these that imply one is hands down better in every meaningful way make you look like a fanboi. They both have their pros and cons. They are both good trucks, and both have been battle tested and proven themselves to be nearly bulletproof. The Ranger just didn't do it in the US.

I know I say a lot in favor of the Ranger in a "talk me out of" thread, so I'll counter it and say: if you won't spend $200 on a leveling kit, don't buy a ranger. The stock stance is atrocious.

While I certainly won't argue with the fact that Toyota reliability cannot be beat, the looks thing is totally subjective. I, personally, think that the Ranger looks a lot better than a 3rd Gen Tacoma. The Ranger don't look better than a 2nd Gen though.

Exactly. Forum was full of hate over the look of the 3rd Gen when many saw it.

If it were possible, I'd agree as well. It's funny how people think a ranger is the same price as an F150, though. They aren't even close. That's no different than asking why you would choose a Tacoma over a Tundra, or a Colorado over a Silverado, or a.... well, nobody here is at risk of choosing a Gladiator over a Ram I don't think...

Gotta be on drugs nowadays to buy new, trucks are so overpriced and that’s all of them. Wait 3 years let someone else pay the depreciation then buy well kept used for cash. Oh shit the Tacoma’s hold their value extremely well. Let’s see what the rangers worth in 3-5 years.

Hardly. Toyota warrantied 2010 Camry dashboards for 10 YEARS if they became sticky due to a manufacturing issue ! Yes 10 years.
Ford can't even fix that cracked rear panel design flaw that 10,000's of people see every day. Great advertising, laugh my ass off every time I see it, great indication of their quality. That is bad customer service and design.
Takes a class action lawsuit for them to act.
    FAR from silly.

Totota, Lexus, Honda, Mercedes still make a lot of cars. Silly Shitty Ford cars nobody wanted is why they are gone.

California sales tax alone would raise the price nearly $4k more.

Every F150 forum I see there is barely a mention of anything. Has posts on the first page 2-3 months old. Boring Zzzzzz. Lack of interest.

You can spec the locker in any trim level, and it can be engaged in any drive mode, 2HI, 4HI, 4LO. Ford is also offering 0%, go for it!

Hm. The one I'm a member of isn't solely for the F150, but it's pretty damn active. Significantly more active than TW even, I'd wager.
    FTEusers.jpg

The first F150 forum that pops up when I google "F150 forum" also looks pretty active. I found one thread on the first page that was older than yesterday. Weird...
    F150users.jpg

TW uses a different format so it's tough to compare active users, but it appears that the F150 forum and TW are pretty much on par as far as activity.

Maybe when you're looking for a forum for the F150, you should try searching for something other than "obscure gathering place for internet users that might be oriented toward half ton blue oval trucks." You might have better luck if you switch up your googling strategy.:gossip::thumbsup:

A sensible post on TW. What's the world coming to? Keep the Ford past 100,000 miles and you just might regret the turbocharger.

I don’t believe Taco owners have better things to do, I believe it is in fact the truck itself which is great...butttt and it’s all the the but’s that create threads like this one. Better things to do hahaha

    ^^^ Well that settles it.

-If you believe strongly in an afterlife:

    buy the Ranger

-If you want to enjoy your time on earth:

    buy the Tacoma

Are turbos known to go out early? Is that why diesels never last more than 100k either? o_O

All I see is that the Ranger has a much stiffer frame...

    https://youtu.be/1QfGMz-R7AQ

The occupants of both trucks had a bad day. The Ranger held onto it's bed, though. No wonder the Taco has better articulation. Look at the frame flop around like a wet noodle! Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Toyota designed it that way so it has better articulation, and it works. As long as it doesn't cause it to rust faster, whatevs. I just thought that was interesting.
