Check engine light

So since I took the trans out and put it back in and broke 3 of 4 exhaust bolts, as you can imagine I've had an exhaust leak. Today during hard acceleration in second gear up a hill, my check engine light came on. Would the exhaust leak and the check engine light on be connected? I'm thinking something to do with the O-2 sensors but not really sure. Haven't had a chance yet to get it hooked up to a scanner so just seeing what ya'll pro's have to say.

x2...the code is needed. My first thought is that it is exhaust related because the computer probably can't get the right O2 data or the computer is trying to adjust the tune without proper feedback. However, since you pulled the trans, it could be something entirely different.

 

I'll grab that code today, about to head out to get some tune up products. Haven't done a tune up since i bought it, and I usually like to do that to a vehicle that I buy used. I'll post up as soon as I get this done and get back to the house.

 

So I got the code "P0430--Bank 2 catalytic below threshold". Tech said my exhaust leak was most likely the cause because it could be sucking air. He cleared it and I drove it around....hasn't come back on. I got the gaskets for the exhaust but the shop where I fix my shit isn't open till Thursday.

 

Very good info here! Now I understand this code a lot more then what the tech said. Cost about 48 bucks to run and clear the codes, and I bought to gaskets to fix the leak so totaled 67 dollars.
