Tacoma Rims?

Guys I here you talking about 5 lug and 4 lug rims, is their a big difference?

 

It's actually 5 lug and 6 lug rims. 5 lugs are for 2wd vehicles, 6 lugs are for 4wd.

 

Prerunners also come with 6-lug. It's just the base models and x-runners that are 5-lug.

Also the suspension's are completely different between the 5 lug and 6 lugs, i.e. none of the lift that fit 6-lugs will fit 5-lugs.

 

I forgot about the prerunners...sorry.

 

I had been wondering also. Great question and great answers! I recently purchased a 2010 base model (5 lug). If I wanted to stay with the same tires (for now) are there many aftermarket wheel choices that are going to be a direct fit, same dimensions as the stock wheels?

There are, most are just more "car" style rims.

 

I would like to have something that looks kinda look like those weld wheels with the circle pattern, but I'm guessing I wouldn't be lucky enough for something like that to fit?

I really enjoy this website and it has been a great help but I feel kinda out of place. By that I mean I have just a base model 2wd AT, and from reading quite a bit here I feel like everyone else has extended cabs, 4WD, bigass offroad wheels/tires and jacked up suspension. nothing wrong with that have owned trucks like that in the past, just sometimes when I ask questions here I feel like I'm trying to achieve something totally different than the typical member here. I don't know if that's just in my head or a reality.

My truck isn't slammed to the ground, and it for sure isn't an off-roader. It's just a cruise in town to the grocery store, pull a small boat down to the pond just basic on road truck. But I am interested in some upgrades same as most people here, maybe just not looking for the same thing.

I would like to replace these stock plain wheels at some point, but the teeny tires actually don't bother me that much. I don't want to have to regear, and with my 4 speed AT my truck already feels underpowered when it first hits forth gear unless I'm pretty heavy on the gas. Not flooring it, but damn sure not feathering it up to speed.

I thought I read here somewhere that the stock size wheels on mine were 15x6 and that they would actually accept 1-2 size bigger than the stock tires to look a little better filling the wheel wells but not kill the power or the gas milage. In fact I think they said it even actually made the speedometer more acurate as it is 3mph high reading from the factory.

Two things I do not want is #1, low profile tires that ride like crap as I do a mixture of back road and highway driving. Looking for really nice riding car feeling tires. I also want to avoid any type of off-road tread tires because I really don't need them. Just think a slightly taller better riding version of the Firestones that came on my truck (2010). I also don't want something wider that is going to be slinging everything down the side of my truck.

Anyway, just rambling but if anyone can make sense of that and point me in the right direction that would be cool. And yes, I realize this isn't the tire/wheel forum.
