Honestly it will probably end up being a sport but we’ll see

Tonight, I changed the Taco’s oil for the first time. People kept saying the first gen 4-banger oil filter was in a tough place.
It’s FAR easier than the 1.6 Miata, which mounted sideways- between the intake manifold (above) & a brace directly below.

I change it tomorrow before I go in to work.

Also, need to start planning a car for the boy, turns 15 in Sept.
He’ll have football, baseball, & basketball all year, so it will be easier to have him drive himself, rather than picking up ...

I get your point. They sent me a quote with part numbers stating i would see x benefit using these parts. Once I discovered the problem, another sales person responded to me stating those parts wouldn’t do x benefit on my particular truck. The correct part on the way is actually the exact one I asked about and was told no that isn’t what I need.
Just sorta put out that my time means nothing to them.

    Not sure yet
Budget for the last one was 4,000 to 15,000.

I got the truck for under $4K & my daughter took the xB. I figured it was a “punt” to hold a year & deal with it when we need another.

Now, we either but her a “college car” (nicer) & the boy gets the xB.

I get a newer car & the boy gets the truck (must learn to drive stick).

Or, we just buy him something.

We haven’t actually started looking yet. He has to get his permit, then we worry about it 6 months later (March), when he can drive dawn till 6pm.

But ... I think it’s better to casually shop to see what “falls in our laps” first.

Just went through this......he ended up buying the car he got off craigslist. We were looking at mainly toyotas and hondas (and lexus / acura) due to long term reliability / safety. ended up with a 2008 Acura TL type S with 160K on her. well maintained, good third party inspection, etc. he goes for his license Monday. We looked at a couple IS 350's, but they were a tad out of range $$ wise. those were little rocketships. kind of glad those didnt work out, 300 HP rear wheel drive

edit....more of the IS350 story. we drove to Raleigh to check out a 2008 with 160K on the clock on a saturday. price was right, nice car, drove great, we were going to get it middle of the follwoing week. seller would not cough up the full carfax. he provided the first page only. got a carfax, the odo had been rolled from 278000 to 160000 about a year prior, when it went though an auction sale. we bailed on that car. drove great for 278000 miles though.

One thought is a second Tacoma for him.
Now, I know better what to look for ...
Gotta wait to see what’s around, like the one Matic posted above.

    OR...
    I get a 4wd Taco & he gets my current one, pre-beat-up ....
(How ya’ll sell them off, it might happen ... hahahahaha)

Y'all I don't know how we got so lucky to have not one, but two easy newborns.

They slept from 9pm until 5am last night. 8 hrs. They're only 11 weeks old and they slept through the night!

All my girls are happy. That means I'm happy :woot:
