Version 2.5 has been in play for well over a year now... it got a bit warpy on the trailing edge over the cross-bar, under direct intense summer sun, so i added a rigid aluminium moulding to the trailing edge to reinforce it. Sound reduction was brought down to more than acceptable levels. Experiment was definitely successful.

I've moved my Spare up to the roof-rack for the summer, while my truck pulls garbage-scow duty over the summer, clearing out two households.. Photo shows rear edging, and the majority of rack, including tie down points is perfectly usable.

Was just about to install my prinsu rack today and i see one of my cross bars isn't anodized. Is this normal or did they mess up on my order?

    Thanks in advance

Unanodized is for the front shield/front strut.

I've seen two other setups, with the front being bare. I assumed it was to assist visual centering of channels, when aligning the shield while securing fasteners.

I followed accordingly. My kit was purchased mid-2015.

It's just a way for CBI to save money yet charge the same price. Instead of offering 6 anodized (or how many comes with whatever rack) they offer 5 anodized and one "bare" since it'll be hidden anyways

It wasn't CBI who did it originally, FWIW.

Hmm well every rack that I've seen bough through Prinsu before it was sold had all anodized so I just assumed it was CBI who did it. Maybe Prinsu started to do it down the road :notsure:

Dunno the full story, but i got mine when Zach/Prinsu was just reaching peak production on his end, around mid-2015. All kits were going out with one unanodized crossbar, unless specifically requested.

Same here, all mine were. I would have called and sent it back in to exchange it, had that happened to my order.

I emailed Prinsu and they confirmed that's how it is(now).

"The silver bar is for the wind deflector. This bar dose not have drop points for carriage bolts".

But you can buy another black bar for $44.

I just wish they had stated this in the description or given us an option to pay extra to get all black bars. I have a long road trip soon so I'll just have to install it, deal with it, and fight with my OCD every time look at it.

Even if it's not visible... I'll know it's there :annoyed:

What kind of tie down points are you using?

Awesome, thank you. I never thought to mount them on the sides of the crossbars :hattip:

Yes, i have them side mounted, so that items may be put on top of the rack flat and flush.
