Lug Nut Question

I picked up a set of FJ wheels and just wanted to make sure I can use the lugs that are on my truck now. I have the aluminum wheels, not the steel ones. Thanks

Are the FJ steel or aluminum?

 

Aluminum I think, they look like this (not my pic)

 

If both sets are aluminum then you should be good to use your current lug nuts.

 

The FJ rims take conical seat lugs as far as I know.

I believe the TRD OR rims take shank and washer lugs. So if you have the TRD OR rims you would need different lugs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

 

I dont know about the normal alloys, but the gunmetal TRDs that I put on today have the washer lugs. The stock FJ nuts are twice as long as my TRD OR ones, but they both work in the wheels.

OP, just look at the nut perch. If it is angled then you need cone style nuts, if it is flat then you can use your stockers.

 

Really depends which stock alloy wheels he has. My taco came with the gulf states toyota alloy wheels, with conical seat lugs.

 

I'm using the ones that came with the truck. Trd or lug nuts no problems what so ever.

 

These are my stocks. Thanks so far fellas. The FJ nut perch is flat. So I'm thinking the stock ones will work.

Those are the stock TRD Or wheels, so according to senor taco's and m3zy6's posts above, you are good to go.

 

Mines not an OR though, its an SR5. Still good to go?

 

Yeah, the wheels are the same just different tires.

I like the look of the alloy Tacoma wheels much better than the alloys that came on my FJ!

 

Yeah m3zy6 already corrected me above about the FJ rims.

But, as I noted, I had the "Gulf States" alloy wheels that come stock on most tacomas down here, and they were conical seat...so not all of the Tacoma alloys are shank, just so we are clear for anyone who digs this thread up later.
