    Hi all,

I'm new to this and would like to throw out a question to you. I have a 2007 Tacoma Prerunner 4x2 V6. My tire size is 265/65R17. I'm looking to purchase newer rims from a 2016 Tacoma on facebook. Would the rims fit my tacoma?

I can't see why not. The TRD Sport tires on my 2017 are 265/65R17 as well. Offsets shouldn't be too different from 2nd to 3rd gen, I would imagine.

I hope so, I'll call the toyota dealership service to ask them that. I really hope it does.

Welcome to TW, plenty of other members are running 3rd gen wheels on their 2nd gen. As long as the wheels are 6 lug like your truck, they should fit.

Yes they will fit perfectly. No need to call anyone. 6 lug with 5.5 spacing is what they are. Glwp

yup, 6 lug pretty much interchanges between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens...1st gen 15" rims may have a problem with 2nd and 3rd gen, but 2nd and 3rd will work on 1st gen.

Hey Guys, so i found and bought 2017 Tacoma Rims with tires with 0 miles on the tires. The rims even have the stickers that you have to peel. I got 4 of them for $800. Not to shabby. So I'm going to be installing them but I wanted to know if I need to have the tires programed to the truck? or can i just put them on and drive?

    You can drive.

Your TPMS light will be on, though. I can't say for sure but I'm fairly certain third gen TPMS are not readable on second gens.

But a sensor swap from your current wheels to the new ones should be cheap. I paid $15/tire.

....the sensor stems/housing is either metal (like my 08’ upgraded alloy rims) , or plastic (like the 2017)....the metal can’t really be swapped for plastic. In that (used oem swap) scenario- your best bet is to disconnect the sensors so you don’t have a low tire light for all eternity

I am researching into this more. “There’s gotta be a way”
    FYI
for the sake of the thread: I put stock 2017 (graphite) rims on my 08’. Very pleased with the results (both were 4x4)

    you

I had four 2017 Tacoma 16” cast Aluminum wheels put on my 2008 Tacoma Prerunner SR5 V6 today. The mechanic swapped the TPMS sensors from the 2008 wheels to the 2017 16” cast wheels and the TPMS light stays on. In addition these 2017 wheels have a 25mm positive offset, which means they will stick out farther by 25mm. I would also suggest you use the 2017 wheel lugs nuts for sure.

    Respectfully,
    Jetmech1
