TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

You guys think I can still hook up the green led that shows when you’re injecting meth alongside my new VC50 controller that has its own built in flow graph? Not sure if the led would interfere with the reading.

I’ve got this stupid idea to keep the controller hidden in the glove box and just have the LEDs visible.

Just pull the "add a fuse" in the engine compartment fusebox prior to flashing.

 

IIRC doing that raised my voltage 0.3 V. I did a log of installed, pulled, installed to see how it would effect it. (engine off/key on)

 

Anyone here running something like this on their headers/manifold to reduce under hood temps. Popular option with fancy cars. They seem to get quite a bit of heat reduction using them although as mentioned before it does heat up your exhaust more.

 

I would consider better flowing headers before doing any of that.

 

Two different purposes as far as I am concerned. Sure better flowing headers will help move heat faster but they are mainly meant to improve flow and add HP/Torque. These blankets/sleeves are primarily meant to contain heat and reduce under hood temps. They aren't meant to directly add performance as far as HP/Torque are concerned. Plus in emissions controlled areas traditional long tube headers may not always be an option.

I haven't the slightest idea. That's why I brought it up. My original post was questioning their effectiveness/worth. I know that there are tons of this type of product for cars that get hotter than ours with and without upgraded headers/manifolds. Whether they work or not, or whether they do more good than harm I am trying to research and learn about.

 

Depends on what material is used, that is "paper thin." If it 304 grade or better, it will be just fine.

 

That looks like something from PTP Turbo blankets, or Heat Shield Products.

I just use the PTP exhaust wrap, with 3/4 overlay. Works great!

 

did you notice a difference in performance and under hood temps?

 

I've never seen those header diapers before. I bet they'd work decently to reduce under hood temperatures. Curious to see your results if you move forward with them.

Edit: Do they have drain holes? or are they oriented in such a way to prevent holding moisture?

 

that would be important not to hold moisture. I wonder if they fit long tubes.

 

Those look like something on an exotic car.

As for holding moisture, a short idle would rid them of any.

 

He’s wanting to use them on stock manifolds.

 

Can anyone confirm if this is the right bearing for the tensioner pulley?

 

buy the 50mm double man. I have a complete set of those too.

 

I would but dont feel like modifying the tensioner, just a little too much work. I just want to have some stock replacements on hand. Something is chirping occasionally and im not sure if its the belt or the tensioner idler

 

I have occasionally heard it too. I removed my jfr belt wrap. it's gone. buddy, get the 50 mmr pulley for the roush. it's so worth it. I swear you will thank me.

 

Yeah they are for ferrari’s found some for the subis too though. Anything for our trucks would have to be custom
