Sipping on some Breckenridge PX cask tonight. Don’t know if I’m growing more custom to the highproofs or what but they seem smoother and have better flavor profiles IMO.

Killed this last night. Not too impressed with the GD BiB straight, but makes ok mixed drinks. Makes good whiskey sours too right @bvbull200

also, @Kanyon71 , new cup was being washed. It's ready to go again for next time!

nothing terrible, it just came across as... Meh... for a lack of better description. I do have two more bottles as this stuff was moving fast and I wanted to make sure if I liked it, I'd have more  I'll have to try it again sometime and see if I can more accurately describe my thoughts on it.

On my palate, the oak comes across really strong - too strong, to me. Maybe "strong" is the wrong word - it is more astringent. You know the smell you get from trying to burn green wood? That kind of thing.

There is also this weird note that reminds me of olive oil or something. It's a weird, off-putting flavor to me.

I had two pours neat, then relegated the rest to poor man's whiskey sours and whiskey/Coke.

It is nothing if not unique, so with this one, more than most whiskies, your mileage may very. A 13 year BiB for less than $40 is worth a shot, in my opinion.

Surprising that a 13yr would be so astringent

Saw this at Total Wine today. They hardly ever have Bookers, but I had something else on the shopping list. Anyone tried it yet? @bvbull200?

Anyone have any experience with Oban scotch? Around here its like $120 a bottle, so some honest reviews would be greatly appreciated. 20190807_210114.jpg

One of my favorite scotches. Has a very small bit of smoke, but no band aid or iodine taste. Love it. But not at that price! That's nuts! I can get it for $58 anywhere here. It's good but not that good. Can you mail order liquor to your state? Lots of places on line - shipping charge isn't cheap but better than $120.

Thanks for the response! I'll have to do some more investigating into getting a bottle shipped. I had a feeling the price I found was a tad high lol

Saw Jefferson's Ocean Aged Cask Strength, but I was disappointed that their cask strength was only 112.
    $105 a bottle, I wasn't that curious.
