Maybe 1/3 the weight of the steel, but it is somewhat smaller. I found that I don't use it all that much, so was willing to go a bit smaller. Would probably have just not replaced, but already had holes in the topper, and I do like that mounting for the LED bar as well as an LED back up light on the back mounted to it.

But I was cleaning the whole area back there - if you remove the glove box and the lower panels and the blower motor you’ll have enough taken off to get it. You’d have to pull out the lower shroud around the AC evaporator to get to thoroughly clean it but I was able to pull it and vacuum up most of it.

those parts underneath are not bad, I took one apart to the heater core at a salvage yard earlier this year, its pulling the dash apart that worries me, i need to replace and find where all these foam chunks have been spewing from the vents and find the weird rattle on the highway at 70mph with fresh air flow setting on ... i have no idea yet where it is coming from

I cleaned all the remaining foam off of the trap door for the vents which was completely coming apart when I barely touched it. I figured living in Southern California wouldn’t matter too much with cool air coming in in the winter and I nearly never use the AC so the sealing / insulating effects of the foam isn’t just a thing I care about vs. the foam falling off.

I used this stuff from HD for replacing the crappy / old foam they sealed the hvac ducts with that was dry rotted as well.

very nice, i wonder if the loss of foam cushioning on the trap door is causing this vibration at certain wind speeds
i have always driven with fresh air coming in the vents during all seasons, i don't need to turn the fan on in the winter usually, the fresh hot air comes in too hot at times
nobody I know yet can replicate this problem i have been having
they just say TURN THE RADIO UP and it will go away lol
sometimes I just like to drive the freeway in silence with the engine and road noise and the flapping gets on the nerves lately!

you should do a write up topic so this doesn't get lost and buried
I am sure others can benefit because I know there are a few that are now or have in the past experienced that icky gray foam spewing out everywhere, it just started happening to me earlier this year and I am still getting the chunks on the floor and dash

Pulled my transmission last night. Sending it off to get rebuilt tomorrow. Going to pull my front diff and replace my fuel filter next.

It was a challenge, but well worth the savings, not to mention the knowledge I gained.

It has a bad leak, and I just want everything up to spec. Also, the owners before didn’t take care of the truck.
