@cromag27, just curious, as an adjuster how was your performance tracked?

uh there was still a loss to your company, their labor and time isn’t free. if you switched companies within the chargeability period, then yes it did effect your premium, you just may not know about it. not at fault accidents are still used as a rating factor. they go on your clue report just like at fault accidents do.

i’m pretty sure it’s different from company to company. same with sales, underwriting, preservation, policy services, etc. each department and each company will have different ways to track an employee’s performance.

if you take the time to search, you’ll even see posts on this very forum from people who were paid more than their vehicle’s worth for a total loss.

Part of this is because often people don't realize the settlement includes medical and covers the TTL.

If my premium doesn't cover their labor what the fuck am I paying it or or how is that insurance company keeping the lights on? This all goes into underwriting.

I switched insurance about 5 or 6 years later and the rates at my new insurer were lower with the same coverage, at the same address. *edit to add that prior to the switch, my premium was dropping a bit every year, even after the claim

No need to do research on my part. After all, it was you that said "every company is different and every situation is different"

I feel like this dude is just reciting the corporate training video that Allstate shows their adjusters to brainwash them into believing the company is the victim when they have to payout claims. I can see it now.... It's Friday afternoon, you're sitting in a training seminar you couldn't give two f**ks about, you're only here because your lifestyle apparel company hasn't taken off yet. You're daydreaming about the weekend, surfing the Gram for Tacomas and chicks. Just as you get tits deep into the very best #broverland content that IG has to offer, they dim the lights and roll a video. Oh sh*t, here it comes, some D-list actor is about to explain how to be the very best ever auto adjuster there ever ever was. Sure enough, one of the lesser known Baldwin brothers starts rambling on about offsetting losses by raising premiums, some sh*t he couldn't care less about either, but he never really bounced back from the 90s so here you both are... You're barely conscious at this point, your brain has left the building and is currently cracking a cold one with the boys. Then you look two rows in front of you and there is this dude viciously taking notes, salivating over the corporate kool-aid, eyes as big as pancakes, just dreaming about his next opportunity to offer some poor schmuck the absolute most "reasonable" payout possible based on the three cheapest comparable trucks he can find in the region. The video ends, he gives a standing ovation and starts rifling off his followup questions, after all, he needs to be well versed in this so that he can regurgitate the info to internet forums later. You walk out, nearly puke in disgust and vow to re-enroll at that community college you were taking a "semester off" from.

The white SUV that was also turning was even closer to being hit, but avoided it by a quick brake tap....

As a buyer, I would instantly nope out of there if I knew about a replaced frame. Have any of you actually seen what body shops do when they replace a frame? That truck will never, ever be the same.

Looked like the driver in OP's video was aiming at the Civic.

Actual cash value and fair market value are two different animals. Insurance uses ACV because it's more in their favor to do so. Except in my case where their cheater software valuation for my 2012 dclb came out to $34,000.00 after my accident in 2017. They were trying to total my truck at $18K. State farm ended up fixing my truck and replacing my frame. So I disagree, there is enough reason to doubt an adjuster's valuation.

Guys, I really appreciate all the feedback thus far. I have to say I am very reluctant to involve my insurance company in any way. They did they me once that my rates could be impacted by non-at fault accidents.

I did hear back from the Geico adjuster this morning and he now has the figure at $17,517 all in. I told him I needed to be at $18.5k in order to settle. The Toyota dealer indicated that a new frame would take 8 weeks to arrive so we are looking at at least 10 weeks repair time if I go that route. I reminded the adjuster that Geico is picking up my rental cost at $35 pr/day plus taxes. Over 10 weeks that would be north of $2700. He is going to his supervisor to seek approval to get to the $18.5k figure. I didn't really plan on keeping this truck more than another year anyway and considering it already is at $135k miles I am leaning heavily towards the total loss option. I'll keep you posted.

Plus they are replacing my step rails, all the control arm components, all 4 wheels (since they couldn't source 1 new one), and the body work. Currently repairs are at $4k without the frame work.
